Civil engineering ... Loughborough vs Nottingham
Hi,
My Ucas deadline for my final decision is looming [5th may] and I've narrowed down my choice to Loughborough or Nottingham. Does anyone have any insight into any of these universities, opinions etc. which may help me slightly. I can't seem to pin point anything that really seperates them in my mind.
Thanks
BEN

Drinks prices in Nottingham?
(20 Apr 2009)
Drinks prices in Nottingham?
What sort of prices in pubs can we expect?
For example:
Pint of Carling?
Pint of Strongbow?
Double shot of some sort of spirit?
And I'm thinking about mainly pubs in the city, not the student bars or anything like that - I can't see myself spending much time in those places.. I want to be where the real people of the city are!

Best (ensuite) halls at Nottingham Uni?
I am aware that there are many numerous threads regarding this topic on the forum however please do not 'flame' I am merely asking for a direct opinion :p:
I have just received a conditional offer from the University Of Nottingham and will verify this offer in the coming days as my 1st choice. However over much thinking, confirming and assuring this establishment to be the choice of my study over the next few years was quite a late one, hence why I am a...

Keeping a horse at Vet School, opinions?
(26 Jun 2009)
Just wanted to know what peoples opinions of this was...
Hopefully next year I'll be going off to study veterinary medicine at university. The plan is/was that Bronson will be going away on loan when I leave
However, I went to an open day today, at Nottingham, and the Dean said that students could bring their horses with them, keep them on a sort of DIY livery at the stables on site, and pay for their upkeep (hay, feed, shoes, bedding etc, not livery bills though). There is an indoor sand school...

What campus would you be on? There are three: City Campus, Clifton Campus, and Brackenhurst Campus.
If you don't know, what course would you be doing?

Robin Hood
(27 Apr 2009)
Nottingham is an interesting idea. It takes the classic Robin Hood mythos and flips it. The Sheriff of Nottingham is acctually a decent lawman on the trail of the villanous Robin Hood.
The flick also has a pretty good petigree. It reteams the kick ass duo of Ridley Scott and Russel Crowe (as the sheriff) and is written by Brian Helgeland the oscar winning writer of L.A. Confidential and Man on Fire , two flick that are widely regarded as kick ass.
So what do you folks think about the concept? An...

Location dilemma!
(08 May 2009)
Hello!
My lovely BF (now fiance, weeee!) proposed recently, which I am over the moon about, but starting to think about plans has thrown up some problems - namely, that we live in Liverpool, my family live in Nottingham and his family in Panama!
Has anyone else been in a similar situation and if so, how did you deal with it?
We're not sure how to organise things - shipping one family over to have them all together, having two ceremonies, or just eloping (but I don't think my grandparents would f...

Breast Newly diagnosed, results and options
(23 Apr 2009)
Hi,
I have previously posted under Waiting for Results. I found out 4/21 that I do have breast cancer. I asked for a copy of the pathology report. A summary is below. My surgeon has recommended me for genetic testing since my sister is a breast cancer survivor. If I come back BRCA + then I would have a bi-lateral masectomy w/reconstruction. If not then I will have surgery, radiation and chemo. I meet w/my oncologist next week.
Here are my questions, my surgeon wasn't sure that I am e...

academy logo
(05 May 2009)
thought I would garner some opinions from the GDF hive mind
we recently had a client come and sit with me to design a logo. They run a dance and drama academy in Nottingham, England. I developed a range of conepts before the meeting, and they went with the style as shown in 1 & 2.
Im pretty happy with it overall, except for the blue streak through it (its meant to be an arrow, as nottingham is famous for its links to robin hood). While I like this idea, they wanted all these little sparks and su...
