Which cost Taxpayers More? Elderly or Kids?
(16 May 2009)
OKEY DOKEY.... I'm leaving myself WIDE OPEN on this topic.... but what the HECK....
I made a thread a few weeks back, explaining WHY I got arrested with a warrant, for missing a court date, that pertained to Child Support Issues.
Here is my 'what if' question.... AS A TAXPAYER... we KNOW that paying for the Elderly is darn right EXPENSIVE. Their meds are bad enough... then you add the Nursing Home Care at $5,000 per month (more expensive in Bigger Cities) My Mother's meds were running $600/month...

Dentist: Taxpayers shouldn't fund soda :
(29 May 2009)
Great article. Got me thinking about the soda can deposit when cans are returned. Not sure if the deposit is charged to the food stamps or if the customer pays for the deposit at purchase. I called 2 stores, one said customer pays the 5 cents, another said food stamps paid. I do know of a family that didn't have enough money for their bag of tobacco so dumped soda bought with stamps into other containers so they could get the money for the tobacco. Are the tax payers paying for the soda and the...

(11 Apr 2009)
Australian taxpayers will continue to pay for the racist criminals
they permit to attack and destroy Aboriginals lives at will day and
night for the last few centuries , at least now we have a permanent
record online for all time to prove what white christian capitalists
are REALLY like
Once taxpayers discover how much the few white christian capitalist
racists like Sir johnny coward have cost them and arrest him ,
billions of dollars can be saved every year
no wonder Qantas and tourism and auto...

As I said before "in a democratic society we are all entitled to our
opinions".
People aren't "scum" or "morons" just because they don't agree with you.

Taxpayer to fund Obesity Surgery?
(01 Jun 2009)
Here's an article in today's paper suggesting taxpayers should pay for lapbanding surgery on obese patients who are deemed unable to afford the procedure.
http://www.news.com.au/couriermail/s...ce=CM_email_nl
What do you think about this?
Do we give up on people taking responsibility for their own healthy weight and classify obesity as a disease?
I suppose the argument for this is the longer term fewer costs to the health system over many years with obesity related diseases.
But, damn it, I real...

Pro-gov't intervention opinions needed, RE: Bondholders
(12 Jun 2009)
I need to understand something and I need someone who supports the government intervention in the Chrysler bondholders situation to explain it to me.
In normal Bankruptcy, the bondholders who purchased the secured debt of a company are the first to get their investment back. That's what "secured debt" means. If there aren't enough funds on-hand, assets are liquidated to cover the debt owed. Only if there aren't enough assets to cover the debt do the bondholders get short return on their investme...

WA state Dems want to hear your opinions on health care
(25 Jun 2009)
Forward to interested parties--Dems or further left than that, I mean.
It's not if -- it's how.
President Obama has been busy making his case for health care reform. For most, it's not a question of whether or not health care reform is necessary - Even Republicans have created their own health care reform plans. It's a question of how to carry it out.
As he described in his speech to the American Medical Association on Monday, President Obama is advocating a plan that will include private health...

Ge shareholers voice the opinions
(03 May 2009)
In a twist of irony, the historically conservative General Electric , the company that rebuilt the career of Ronald Reagan and sent him from city to city in the late 50s and early 60s, has become the corporate holding company of some of the most fringe left-wing politics on television.
This transformation has GE shareholders, such as us, spitting mad. It all boiled over at the annual shareholders meeting in Orlando. The usually boring annual meeting was the sight of NBC unit chief Jeff Zucker...

'Anti-Obama Taxpayer Tea Parties steeped in insanity' -LA Times
(15 Apr 2009)
Here's a good editorial explaining today's events,
http://www.latimes.com/news/opinion/commentary/la-oe-co...
The Web is buzzing with information about how to throw an anti-Obama Taxpayer Tea Party, something organizers hope will be held today from Santa Monica to South Carolina. But no need to burn up your bandwidth reading complicated instructions. Here's a simpler recipe:
Go to a hobby store. Buy a scale model of a U.N. One-World-Government Black Helicopter and a tube of glue. Toss the model...
