1. Thinking about building a SET amp - suggestions?   (22 May 2009)
Hi all! New here. I just finished a DIY active crossover (sorry for the cross-forum link, but that's where I've been hanging out), and have on the way some Klipsch Heresys (1981) that I plan to drive with active crossover + tube (presumably SET) amp, as the initial experiment in this sort of thing. Anyone here with experience in building these SET beasts? I don't even know where to start, though I do have a few other knowledgable contacts. But I'm looking for opinions and recommendations, and in...

2. Thinking about buying a "max"   (27 May 2009)
I have been having this nagging desire to get a max ever since my new 50" TV arrived at Xmas time. I have been trying to hold off for the past 5 months, but am slowly gravitating toward HD. I presently use a Kbox, which is an awesome box, have had viewsat pro, extreme, both of which were very good boxes. I do like to experiment with different boxes, and would love to get some HD into my new TV. What I need to know is how happy are you guys with your Max receivers? HD working great? (at least the...

3. Need opinions and facts and all for an experiment (Auto facts)   (10 Jun 2009)
Okay, so I'm trying to see why America, can't make a decent car. America can't seem to make anything comparable to a German car, or now a days, Japanese car. Don't ask why or what. Just give me opinions of what you think makes American cars worse (inside the car itself, and who's putting it together, etc...). Opinions of what changes you'd like to see in Americans cars stuff of that nature.

4. Advice on High School Chemistry Experiment   (21 Apr 2009)
Alright for my Chemistry class I was thinking about doing a project with a partner on the effects of an acid on different metals. What acid and metal(s) should I use for this experiment, I already know Nitric Acid reacts in a certain way with Copper but I was wondering if I can test it with other metals or change up the acid.

5. Mmm ... the Great Crab Cake Experiment Part 2 & 3   (02 Jul 2009)
Part one was awful. Don't wanna think about it. Tonight, part 2 started with this basic recipe http://www.udel.edu/PR/UpDate/98/8/teachers.html and was further tweaked by adding green onions and a couple of different coatings. One was panko/parm and fried in olive oil. Results: unsuccessful. Didn't care for the taste or the mess. Experiment 3 was in the broiler, after rolling in crushed crystallized ginger. VERY interesting. I'd do it again.

6. a small thought experiment   (14 Jun 2009)
Hi, this is my first post, be gentle. I hope this is the correct subforum. I had this small thought experiment, and I felt like sharing this, to get some opinions and/or insights. The whole idea is based on the assumption that if you infinitely zoom in the locus of a circle, you 'end up' with a straight line. Assuming this is true, the opposite should be true aswell. A straight line is nothing more than (part of?) the locus of a circle with an infinite radius and circumference. Now bear with me,...

7. A Social Experiment   (22 Jun 2009)
Hey CAWs, it's Nobody! As in, the guy who got himself banned last year (for the lulz, of course). I was REALLY bored, so I decided to undergo a social experiment. Now, it goes as follows, using the scientific method that I learned in grade school: Hypothesis: That people would take my opinions and comment into less consideration if they thought I was a new member. Materials: One internet forum One banned account (Nobody) One new account (im12whatisthis) Experimentation: I made various comments i...

10. Let's try an experiment...   (20 May 2009)
Let's try an experiment...   Having come across the ideas of John Rawls in my studies, I reckoned it would be quite interesting to see what would happen if we tried them in real life. The crux of the idea I'm thinking of is about how to form social contracts - for our intents and purposes, the laws of society. He said that in order to form a completely fair social contract, the would-be members of that society would have to agree on the constitution of that social contract from a position of "bl...
