Early Islamic(?) Battle Axe

Would love to get some feedback about this item as it is a bit outside my area of knowledge but I probably know enough to either get me in trouble or make a good find. This axe has some characteristics that seem early to me. I lean towards an Islamic origin of this piece based on the shape of the head.
