1. Thinking about buying a Kimber Pro Covert..opinions wanted.   (09 Jun 2009)
Hello, I have recently stumbled upon a hefty real estate commission, and I think I want to treat myself to a new pistol..you know, as a reward to myself I'm liking the Pro Covert II and think it might be the one. First, I know there are plenty of 1911 options out there and some might feel that for a "bit more" I can "upgrade" to a Wilson, Baer, Ed Brown, etc. I don't really want to go this route. People say, "Once you get a (insert high-end name here) you will see the difference in quality." I d...

2. Thinking About A Smith   (06 May 2009)
drawn to revolvers lately and am thinking about a 686 with a 4" or 6" barrel. not a carry gun. for the range and something to take hiking/backpacking. currently have several kimbers, 3", 4" and 5" barrel and a glock 23. questions are: 1 - what's everyone think of the 686? 2 - what's the accuracy at, say, 15 yards like compared to the kimber 5"? opinions, viewpoints and all genuine wisdom appreciated.

3. Opinions: Lapco Snapshot 5-Piece Barrel Kit   (18 Apr 2009)
What do you think about this kit? Lapco Snapshot 5 Piece Paintball Gun Barrel Kit http://www.doropaintball.com/ab10381...d.asp?id=12942 Also, the WGP AutoCocker threads will fit the Bob Long Protege, right? For me specifically, I'm going to be playing woodsball more often than speedball, and I'm pretty fast at running and tend to be aggressive with pushing up. I don't shoot a whole lot of paint because I like to save money. Currently my Protege has a stock 0.689" one-piece barrel. I've always he...

4. Pacnor barrels / McMilan Pre 64 Monte Carlo ?? (your opinions)   (21 Apr 2009)
I have a standard pre 64 receiver that Im planning to use for a pretty basic .30-06 all weather build. Right now Im planning on using a McMillan pre 64 Classic stock, a Pacnor barrel with classic pre 64 Win contour and having the rifle coated with Black T or something of that nature. What are your thoughts of the Pacnor barrel and the pre 64 classic stock by McMillan ? I would love some pics of any similar setups you may have. I know its not really elaborate, but I just want an all around huntin...

8. Spiral fluting is NOT allowed by barrel manufacturers   (29 May 2009)
because another barrel manufacturer has a trademark on it, WTF. How can someone/company put a patent/trademark on fluting a barrel to a customers wants? I just ordered my Mcgowen in 300 win mag and asked about spiral fluting. Jon told me that they and other barrel making companies are NOT allowed to spiral flute barrels unless they pay a royalty because ER Shaw holds a trademark/patent on it. That is B YOND ubsurd. Any opinions or comments on this BS

9. Short Barreled Whelen   (08 Jun 2009)
Thinking about a 35 Whelen with a 18" barrel anyone have one? I know that with 225 gr bullets 2700 fps is safely possible in a 22" barrel with an 18" I'm thinking 2600+ fps should be doable. A left hand Remington 700 with a McMillan Edge is what I'm thinking about. I have a 35 Whelen already but I would like to rebarrel it to a heavy barrel 6.5x55 as a fun target rifle. Since that gun is heavy to begin with and would need a lot of work to get it where I want it to be I would like to start fresh...

10. Pac Nor barrels   (28 Jun 2009)
Anyone have experience dealing with them? I am thinking about putting a faster twist barrel on my .243 AI, 1 in 8" 28" in length. I have heard good things about Pac Nor and they are a local (Oregon) company.
