1. Carbon Dioxide Sequestration   (06 May 2009)
I have some thoughts/questions on carbon dioxide sequestration. First, it's not just CO2 injection underground. It includes all of the other pollutants emitted (SO2 (acid gases), NOx, metals) from combustion. I have not seen the process, but I am assuming it is taking the emissions that would be coming from a stack and putting it in the ground. Could this potentially contaminate the groundwater supply? Is it treated liked a hazardous waste landfill? Also some of that gas is hot (+300F), what eff...

2. Startup Turns Human Waste Into A Replacement For Coal "net carbon dioxide...   (12 Jun 2009)
Startup Turns Human Waste Into A Replacement For Coal Startup Turns Human Waste Into A Replacement For Coal http://www.businessinsider.com/startup-turns-human-waste-into-a-replacement-for-coal-2009-6 Jay Yarow | Jun. 12, 2009, 8:38 AM |     EnerTech Environmental is turning the sludgy waste from household sewage into a solid that can be used as a substitute for coal. That's right, it's a "crap to coal" technology. It takes the sewage from municipalities in Southern California, who pay the compan...

3. What do you think about the recently found "Missing Link"?   (19 May 2009)
Just curious what everyone's opinion is on this? http://news.sky.com/skynews/Home/Wor...liest_Ancestor The search for a direct connection between humans and the rest of the animal kingdom has taken 200 years - but it was presented to the world today at a special news conference in New York. The discovery of the 95%-complete 'lemur monkey' - dubbed Ida - is described by experts as the "eighth wonder of the world". They say its impact on the world of palaeontology will be "somewhat like an asteroi...

4. My Solution For Global Warming II...   (27 Jun 2009)
Well, as I have already said (here: http://www.thenakedscientists.com/forum/index.php?topic=23393.new#new ), I have some scientific theories of my own, some related to global warming. In my previous post, I have already gone into my theory of biologically engineering a super plant that processess CO2 into oxygen at a much higher rate. Some of you think this is unfeasible. So I will offer you my second theory: Why not use chemistry itself to process CO2 into oxygen? Let me explain. There must be...

5. Opinion on UV Catalytic Filter   (13 May 2009)
Opinion on UV Catalytic Filter I got a free upgrade to a UV filter on a magnavore simplicity reactor. Since hope is eternal and it was free, I am getting opinions if it is worthwhile. Here is the product link: http://www.magnavore.com/wd.html "The photocatalytic reaction utilizes none-germicidal UV light to generate hydroxyl and super oxide radicals on the surface of the catalytic cell. These radicals break down complex organic molecules and completely mineralize them into carbon dioxide, water,...

6. Global Warming - who do you believe???   (19 Jun 2009)
This is a good read --> From the Australian Today (19 June 2009): STEVE Fielding recently attended a climate change conference in Washington, DC. Listening to the papers presented, the Family First senator became puzzled that the scientific analyses they provided directly contradicted the reasons the Australian government had been giving as the justification for its emissions trading legislation. Fielding heard leading atmospheric physicist Dick Lindzen, of the Massachusetts Institute of Tech...

7. Bill McKibben: The fierce urgency of now   (08 Apr 2009)
The fierce urgency of now Bill McKibben Watching the backlash against clean energy projects build in Canada has moved me to think about what Americans have learned from facing this same problem. I have been thinking and writing for several years about overcoming conflict-avoidance and the importance of standing up for "Big Truths" even at the price of criticizing fellow environmentalists. It's not that I've developed a mean streak. It's that the environmental movement has reached an important po...

8. My SECOND Theory For Ending the Greenhouse Effect...   (27 Jun 2009)
Well, as I have already told you in another post, I am just bursting full of ideas for helping cure the earth's problems. And one thing I often think about, and come up with new ideas for, is the Greenhouse Effect. In my last post, I said one idea to solve this problem was to build a kind of super plant that processess carbon dioxide into oxygen at a much higher rate. Most of you claimed that idea probably wouldn't work. So I will share another idea with you all: Why not simply use some kind of...

9. Now it is the Obama administration that is silencing people who disagree ...   (30 Jun 2009)
Change we can believe in. Sounds like the EPA made up its mind and anyone who disagrees will be silenced. Meanwhile the Democrat congress tries to ram through a bill to fight climate change that may not even exist. And yes this comes from Fox News, deal with it. A top Republican senator has ordered an investigation into the Environmental Protection Agency's alleged suppression of a report that questioned the science behind global warming. The 98-page report, co-authored by EPA analyst Alan Carli...

10. E-mails indicate EPA suppressed report skeptical of global warming   (29 Jun 2009)
June 27 2009 The Environmental Protection Agency may have suppressed an internal report that was skeptical of claims about global warming, including whether carbon dioxide must be strictly regulated by the federal government, according to a series of newly disclosed e-mail messages. Less than two weeks before the agency formally submitted its pro-regulation recommendation to the White House, an EPA center director quashed a 98-page report that warned against making hasty "decisions based on a sc...
