Let's call torture advocates what they are: COWARDS.
(24 Apr 2009)
Think about it. The Republicans generally try to posture as "tough" and "strong on defense". In reality, they are fearful, mewling cowards.
Remember the Cold War, when the phrase "Better Dead than Red" had some currency? It basically stated that the speaker would rather *cease to exist* than become that which completely opposed his own principles. (Now, Joe McCarthy and his supporters DID become very similar to the very Soviets that they despised, which only proves my point by exception.)
Now, w...

" Dictatorship or Democracy? " (Advocates dictatorsihip)
(06 Jun 2009)
My sister sent me this. Not sure of the email's origin, but my sister is a fundamental Baptist. Please don't Quote: and repeat the entire article! I just found it fascinating that they are actually claiming that a benevolent dictator is better than a democracy :

opinions needed on sleep scheduling book by Rachel Waddilove
(02 Jul 2009)
Hi,
There is a book called "The Baby Book- How to enjoy year one" by Rachel Waddilove. she is a Nanny from England.
In the book she advocates starting the baby on a particular sleep schedule to get them used to it, right from nearly the beginning. I am wondering if anyone has read this book or tried her methods?
I am pregnant with #1 and thinking about some things I may try regarding this. I would like to-
1. see what happens and be surprised
2. co-sleep with the little baby bed that can clip on...

things to think about
(12 May 2009)
Should you contribute 1/2 of your waking life to make a living for a measly 2 weeks of vacation each year? (and that vacation is a privilege given by the company, not a right by your government. Yes, the United States is one of the only free goverments that does not require employers to give vacation time to its employees)
Should you work a salaried position where you may work 80 hours in one week and receive no extra pay, but only work 20 hours the next week to have your pay docked?
Should you...

HUMOR SF Thinking About Safe Injection Sites

Shootup while nurses watch you ftw!
Quote: : SAN FRANCISCO - City health officials took steps Thursday toward opening the nation's first legal safe-injection room, where addicts could shoot up heroin, cocaine and other drugs under the supervision of nurses.

Life Advocates Troubled by Supreme Court Nominee
(28 May 2009)
On Thu, 28 May 2009 01:26:17 -0400, "J" <Jvisions@live.com
When a person becomes the nominee to sit on the United States Supreme Court,
it is only proper that the press and the opposition political party do a
'character colonoscopy. This is after all a life-time appointment.

Snit took another hit and mumbled:
I would. I have never noticed until now the type of behavior under discussion.
All flames and other opinions aside about the X Window clipboard being
different, it's plain stupid you should lose what's in the clipboard because
you shut a program down.

Opinions please: best single-payor advocacy group to donate money to.
(25 May 2009)
I've turned into a single-issue guy on this issue, at least for a while. My insurance company just tried to raise my rate to $800/month.
I'll find an alternative, but when we're talking serious money like that, I think I may channel some money to single-payor advocates.
My question is: who is doing the best job of fighting to make sure that single-payer government healthcare will be a choice available to consumers?

Pazz, Ivilborg- Your opinions so far?
(06 Apr 2009)
Would love to see our Advocates chime in on the 1.05 changes so far, knowing that it's early. Guardians seem concerned right now (I know I am) about what 1.05 appears to do to our class.
What are your thoughts? What are your concerns?
Thanks
