Are bloggers "the media"?
(05 May 2009)
I'm not necessarily interested in discussing specific personalities here.
And admin folks, if you think this is inflammatory or not deserving of a thread, I defer to you.
So, I read the paper, watch the news, and sometimes I peruse the blogs.
In a few places I've seen bloggers call themselves "the media".
Many of you posters here seem pretty astute, so I'm wondering how many of you considers bloggers to be "the media". Why or why not?
I'll go first:
Most of the PEI blogs I've read seem more full...

It's time for a thousand Gay freeway bloggers

across the highways and by ways of Amerikka. They already hate us let them know what we think about things. Sadly I am too old for anything that will involve running from the police, to many meds to bring to jail. But I would if I were younger. Don't give any shit about vandalism either. Tough shit

What Obama "Really Thinks" About "Homophobia in the Black Church"
(05 Jul 2009)
Fascinating blog Post from Rod 2.0. It will be interesting to me in 10 years time to look back at this post and see where we are then - hopefully way far away from the current real or perceived conflicts.

From cable news pundits to the average person reading and commenting on blogs, it's become accepted as fact for many to say "what Obama really means" (WORM) or "what is really in Obama's heart." The meme has become an Olympic sport amon...

Saturday Forum A Nebraska Reader Reports Hispanic Bloggers Savaging Sotomayor; etc. From: Dale Gribble ( e-mail him)
Re: Steve Sailer’s Column: The Sotomayor Scandal: What Does It Mean For America?
Maybe Obama's selection of Judge Sonia Sotomayor was a brilliant bid for him to buy time and put an illegal immigration amnesty on the backburner .
However, reviewing some Latino/Latina blog posts from cyberspace’s diverse corners, I see cracks in Obama's Hispandering strategy .
Many don't view Sotom...

Bloggers are revolting: a new Tiananmen?
(04 Jul 2009)
A new Tiananmen - but this time China's rebels are online .
A bloggers' revolt has forced China to abandon efforts to censor the internet. Will it lead to more freedom or trigger a fresh crackdown?
There has been a lot of talk about a dam bursting in China this week and it is being seen as a good thing. Only hours before the July 1 deadline that the Chinese Government had set for the mandatory installation of the Green Dam Youth Escort software on every new computer sold in China, there was a...

Analysis: bloggers can no longer be sure on anonymity
Detective constable Richard Horton
Frances Gibb, Legal Editor
Thousands of bloggers churn out opinions daily — secure in the
protection afforded to them by the cloak of anonymity.
From today, however, they can no longer be sure that their identity
can be kept secret, after a landmark ruling by Mr Justice Eady.
The judge, who is known...

CA's Blogger comments on LKL
(17 May 2009)
Many posts have been made claiming opinions that CA is trying to reach out to the potential jury pool with her interviews. She made quite a few negative remarks about "bloggers" on LKL last Wednesday ~ does she think that jurors are not bloggers? Are those who blog about this case not allowed to be jurors?
