Thinking about finally trying clipless, help me find a shoe

I've been thinking about giving clipless another shot, but the problem is, all the shoes look ridiculous to me. I really just don't think I can get into wearing neon velcro shoes. Do they make any modern SPD clipless shoes that have a classic look like the old leather lace up bike shoes everyone used to wear? I'd like something in a simple black, laces, no velcro(not only do I dislike the looks, it puts weird pressure on my feet), recessed cleats if possible, low top type shoe. Does this exist?...

Thinking about switching to clear polish for all shoes but black

So after gradually building up a respectable collection of dress shoes in multitudes of shades of brown, ( oxblood, chestnut, burnt pine, etc) I am starting to think that I wouldn't want to alter the color of the leather much further, being that I only have brown and cordovan polish/creme.
What I'm trying to avoid is ending up with 7 or 8 pair of brown shoes all slightly resembling each other because of similar polish and creme use.
I may be wrong, and hence the reason for starting this thread....

Hi all,
I'm wondering what people think of these two pairs of shoes? I'm looking for summer shoes that I could also wear with shorts (I'm not sure if shorts are frowned upon around here, but I like to wear nice pairs). I have some sandals I wear with shorts, but they are quite casual and I don't always like to wear sandals. But, the only other shoes I own are dress shoes or shoes that you couldn't wear with shorts.

Wedding Outfit: Black Shoes or White Shoes?

I'm going to a wedding next weekend and I got a dress that is black with a cream/white embroidered design on the main part of the dress (the top part is all black). It is a square neck sleeveless dress with wide black straps. The dress flares nicely and comes to the knee.
I know I can't go wrong with a black shoe, but I was wondering if a white shoe would look wrong? I was thinking about a wide strappy type of shoe with a heel height of about 2.5 inches. Any other ideas?

Thinking about heading there after work today.
I have horrible shin splints from my worn out Ascics.
I used to have horrible shin problems and then I switched to the Gel Kayanos. I been through 4 pairs, and this pair wore down unevenly. I want to switch it up to another shoe.
I know Athlete's foot is supposed to have a pretty advanced fit system.
Has anyone been to one? Are they helpful?
