Have a crush on her, but don't know what she think about me.
(17 May 2009)
Have a crush on her, but don't know what she think about me.
She's beautiful and smart.
I'm not handsome, not tall(we almost get the same height, but I'm very short in males).
The distance between our hometowns is far.
I'm 69 days older than her.
We study in the third city, in the same lab(since nine months ago), in the same workroom(since three months ago).
I'll get my Master's degree next year.
She's working for her docter's degree, still has years to go.
For about half a year, My diary is all...

How to hide a password against decompilers in an OS project
(17 Apr 2009)
Brief summary:
-We want to hide a password in a program so that it is hidden even is someone is decompiling it.
- the program will be open source.
- WE compile the versions with the valid password.
I'm currently developping a tool anti-cheat tool which
-calculates the hashcode of the game.exe
-launches the game.exe
-sends the hash code to the server.
-the server then knows that the game is a "clean" version.
The game's source is already published.
We want to publish the code of our tool too so t...

[all variants] Encryption Password Mixup
(05 May 2009)
Hey,
I've had Ubuntu installed for a while with full-disk encryption with LUKS and LVM and I've used an obscenely strong password. (>80 characters totally random) It's worked out great and I had it memorized to the point where my hands would type it in without me even thinking about it. Unfortunately for some reason my muscle memory shifted and now I am one character short when entering the password. I'm pretty sure I know where the missing character is in the sequence but I'm not sure what i...

What do you guys think about AutoIt? : AskReddit
(03 May 2009)
AutoIT is fucking awesome. Seriously. It's primary goal was to have a way of automating install scripts for programs but has morphed into it's own free standing language. I found it because I was looking for a way to start programs with Administrator rights through scripts that wouldn't reveal the password. With AutoIT you can make a simple 3 line script that you can then compile making it next to impossible to read.

Password hash and salting - is this a good method?
(12 May 2009)
I was doing a little research or googling for different methods of handling password hashing and salting and came across this interesting link:
http://phix.me/salt/
Now, essentially what this proposes is the creation of two user functions, one for hashing and one for checking the hash.
The salt is pseudo random but is in actual fact based upon the password (strikes me as bad?).
The hashing function also pseudo randomly "sprinkles" the salt amongst the hash string.
The hash checking function reve...

Is your online life in your will? (Backups, passwords, etc.)
(21 Apr 2009)
After my L-A-S-T catastrophic loss of my hard-earned data, I have spent a lot of time researching backups and online backup services. In doing so, something kept crawling up my spine I couldn't identify until today...
There was not a single word on including online backups in a last will and testament!
The obligatory search on Google for "online backups and your last will and testament" yielded not a single hit on this subject that I could detect, of course your mileage may vary.
Regardless o...

Figureing Out The Number Of Possible Passwords Up To 12 Char
(05 Jun 2009)
So this is a stupid quest but I'm really bad at math. I'm not looking for someone to give me the answere I'm just looking for the proper equation to figure out numericaly exactly how many (yes I know it's a rediculous number) passwords you could have from 1 to 12 characters using only lower/upercase letters and numbers. so there are 26 lower case and 26 upercase letters and 10 numbers that's 62. do you just take 62 x 62 x 62 that seems too easy and too small of a number. again i'm REALLY bad at...

Should I let someone know my password before I die?
(28 Jun 2009)
I don't mean to continue the morbid topics of this week, but I've been thinking about this for a while.
Living in a world surrounded by technology, we've become accustomed to our accounts and computers, social networks and online discussion boards. All of this we use everyday, and often consist of our personal and private information. So, should we die, what happens to all of this?
Should I let someone know my password before I die? Should I put something in my will? Do I want others to access m...
