I ran across the old play2win article while drinking my morning coffee ... I hadn't read it in a few years and it was a nice reminder ... sometimes it's all too easy to fall in the QQing trap.
Long-time PvPers know what I am talking about .. but there's probably some newer/pve-focus foks that don't .. so I thought I'd post the link here for posterity's sake. So in your opinion/experience/knowledge, does playing a huge amount blitz games regularly (5, 10 minutes) contribute significantly to your improvement and growth as a chess player? If so, what area would this help the most in, and how?

Since I think that currently cc is becoming "mainly" a chess-engine struggle with less and less human creativity, I'm searching for a more playable approach and therefore I consider a good idea your "Relocation variants". Actually I would prefer the simple approach for the creation of "NO-engine tournaments", anyway the important thing is to decrease engine usage, in my opinion. Nevertheless, the sad issue (in my personal opinion) is that this point seems absolutely not to be a major (or minor)...

The US Chess Federation has an election coming up for seats on it's Executive Board. While reading up on some of the candidates positions, I found out there's a major legal battle going on right now.

This all started when one or more people started impersonating Sam Sloan on various chess-related Internet message boards. At the time, he was a member of the Executive Board, but subsequently lost the following election.

My Problems with Rating Movies

As some of you know, I have my own movie rating scale that has been getting more detailed with each set of movie reviews I do in the Sticky thread on rating the last movies we've seen, and my taste is often quite different from the general public's taste.

A bit of background info: I'm 18 as of two months ago. I fit the description of a "gifted" child (Professionally measured IQ > 140, I'm a synesthete, extremely introverted). I got mediocre grades in high school and middle school (B's and C's). Nevertheless, I managed to shoe my way into as advanced a course schedule as I could, which kept me in public school, out of a private school, and allowed me to build up latent resentment towards the system.
