I've been taking voice lessons for a year and a half now. Getting ready for another audition next Monday, 7/13. For the past week, I've been experiencing some throat pain, and I'm wondering if it's connected to my singing. First it started off in the morning waking up with it, and kind of an earache as well. I've been going back through all these old video tapes of some of my former bands playing live and transferring them to DVD and got to thinking about a bunch of my old band mates. Thing is, I always sang a third to a half of the lead vocals in the last so many bands I had and I never did anything special before a performance besides maybe having a drink, maybe not. Actually normally did the first set straight and had a beer or drink on breaks between the rest of em.

Another thing you need to take into consideration with song selection is "will someone else be doing this song" If there are 6 other girls singing "Broken Wing" in a country contest- you're just an IDIOT if you get up there and sing it as well. Unless you're the first one to do the song...you are screwed. That's why you need a back up song....and it shouldn't be another common one like "Before he cheats" becau...

I am not sure I am getting honest opinions about this band because everyone knows how much I love them and think they rock. I have heard they sound like Led Zepplin, Theory of a deadman, Creed, Chris Daughtrey, etc. My brother said they sounded like a weak ass nickleback except for the lead singers vocals were amazing. No one has said they sucked yet... Just people in the hip-hop scene don't really care for them but respect them.
So, I want to know what the rock community thinks about them HONES...

JP-ish bands and especially singers

Hi Guys,
I mostly lurk here, posted a few times, but I enjoy all the reading
herein and really respect your opinions, etc. You guys have really
turned me on to some excellent bands!
OKay, I like many forms of metal, and thrash, death, prog, hair metal,
and classic rock, and what have you. But one thing I REALLY like,
mainly because I'm a singer in a band called Dragonfly which LOVES to
play and sing Priest (no, no MySpace pages or links yet!), and I'm
looking for some more recommendations....

Lead Singer Syndrome

In a recent post, I recalled how annoying people with LSS are. These people are the singers who dictate the whole show without anyone else's input. They think they're amazing singers, they brag all the time, even lie a lot, etc.
Now I am lead singer in my band, also playing guitar. I also play bass where needed to fill the position if it's empty. I choose the songs we play because most other people have no good ideas of what they may want to play. If they do, they tell me, and I think about it....
