Time - What do you think about it?
(06 May 2009)
This is a simple debate thread for views on time, brought about by a little discussion between Elf Wind and Moonlight, now amplified into its very own thread. ^_^
So, what are your views, opinions and theories on the concept of time?
Personally, I believe that time is non-existant. There is no "beginning of time" and there will be no "end of time" as time does not exist. Time is a human construction displayed on the face of a clock. It is not some all powerful, mighty thing.
There will only be t...

clocked - opinions?
(17 Jun 2009)
looking for a car at the moment and spotted something that i may be interested in, but one of the photos set alams bells ringing. To my mind this looks like the clutch pedal has a lot of ware on it, indicating a good bit more that 60k miles advertised - any opinions/thoughts?
Thanks

Measured effects of core/shader/mem clocks
(01 May 2009)
Lots of opinions get tossed around about the effects of core, shader and memory clocks on FAH production. I've spouted a few seat of the pants observations/opinions myself and finally decided to see if I was anywhere close to right. To test, I chose to use a 8800GTS (G92), a middle of the road GPU considering the current installed base. I chose to use a 511 point WU as they tend to use the most resources. I backed up the WU and used the same frames in each comparisson. Here's what I found:

Timings Vs. Clock speed
(20 Jun 2009)
Just something to think about here: in all standard types of memory(synchronous dram: sdram, ddr, ddr2 ddr3)
timings are measured in clocks which depend on the clock speed of the RAM to actually
determine how long(how many nanoseconds) those delays are. S
omeone please correct me if I am wrong, but that would just be simple math, right?
Timing in clocks divided by clock speed.
If so then you can actually get lower timings(in nanoseconds) by having your ram clocked at
1066(or 1000) 5-5-5-15 then...

mackie, behringer, word clock
(11 Jun 2009)
Hi there,
I just bought a Mackie SDR 24 track. I love the fact that I can record 24 tracks at 96 khz. Just through the analog ins though. I also already own ADA8000's by behringer. They have external clock in. I was thinking about upgrading the ADA8000's by sending them to Black Lion. I think their upgrades are great. However, with sending back and forth added this would set me back around a 1000 dollar. Which I currently can't affort. So I am thinking of adding an external word clock. I know Bl...

Kiper said that the Niners have "a ton of needs." He listed them as: RB...Frank Gore needs someone to share the load with. WR...no true #1 but he did me...

Is this clock any good?? Give me your insight
(18 May 2009)
I was thinking about getting a clock to clean up our digital recordings. I kno there are big names out there like Antelope Audio and Big Ben. I saw this ART SyncGen it's $129 and was wondering if anyone has one, or has used one, and how it performs. I kno for $129, its not gonna make our sound HD, but I'm sure it could improve the sound compared to the internal clock on the 003Rack right?. I also saw another clock, It's Lucid Clock it runs for like $450.
Thanks for your input.
