Hello all.
As the title says, I'm a trial account, but the game so far has been fun for the most part, and was considering buying.
However, I have some questions, since I've seen a lot of things I haven't liked, and there are a lot of posters in this forum that made me think twice about the game, as well.
Last saturday I had a pretty good time on norland's orvr. For a couple of hours we capped and lost the objectives over and over against destruction. I got some decent gear for my meele warpries...

What do you think about achievement_idle servers, people who "play" on them...

Many servers now run the "achievemnet_idle" map, which indicates that the server lets people idle without being kicked. The concept is that you're essentially supposed to go AFK for an extremely long amount of time (say, while you're at work or asleep), and then when you get back to your computer, you'll have unlocked tons of new items from "playing" TF2 for many hours.
So, what do you think about the people who "play" on these servers? Are they disgusting, cheating scum who don't deserve the un...

Ok, I was just at the download link for MS server2008 and I noticed that is specificaly says AMD64 in the iso string.
Does this mean that it is exclusively AMD64 or is it just that AMD came out with 64 bit computing 1st?
I don't want to waste the bandwidth for a 32 bit server system.

Looking for opinions on a home server config

This is probably a going to be a bit of a longish post, so thanks in advance for taking the time to read.
Background: My wife and I are wanting to consolidate our data / media by implementing a server at home. Both of us are quite technically proficient, so an "idiot proof" solution from an usability standpoint isn't required.
Current available hardware: 24 " iMac, self-built c2d based pc, mac mini, old 3ghz p4 mothballed system, 3 or 4 sizable external drives (500 GB +), and a couple of 1 TB WD...

More specifically, a Community Achievement server?
I'm just trying to gauge feedback to a proposition of this, because love them or hate them, they are here to stay until Valve deliver a better method to gain unlocks.
I personally use achievement maps on a private server with friends and community members alike, so I personally would use it, and be thankful there are people (other members of a tf2 community) happy to help people achieve people gain their new unlocks.

i played WoW for about a year and a half till about last year October-ish on the bronzebeard server, found a good guild and levelled a paladin to 70 got full epixxxx and did the same with a warrior.
i originally quit because of exam pressure and well i was getting bored of WoW at the time and previously quit like 6 months prior to starting up again...
erm anyway, my original plan was to quit for the exam period till WotlK got released and i'd start up again... thing is i just never fel...
