1. Hired Guns-   (21 Jun 2009)
They're not officially soldiers. They're definately not civilians. However they're still fighting, and dying, in wars and or task-missions that they have no invested interest in except for one thing: money. They are soldiers for hire, mercenaries if you will, assasins whose loyalties are with whichever 'side' pays them more for their services. Recently I learned that one private US contractor had more fighters in Iraq than the entire British forces!! This privatization of war comes at a heavy fi...

2. Hired Guns   (29 Jun 2009)
I am looking for opinions on hired guns. I am going to play an Escher gang and I am considering hiring a Scum and a Ratskin Scout for my first couple of games. The bounty hunter models are great and they are armed to the teeth but at 35 credits I can get one or two Scums and/or a Ratskin scout. Any opinions and/or preferences?

3. Security hired for Obama statue while in Pearland, Texas   (05 Jun 2009)
http://blogs.chron.com/pearland/2009/06/security_hired_... June 04, 2009 Security hired for Obama statue while in Pearland One of my favorite Quote: s comes from Theodore Roosevelt. He said: "To announce that there must be no criticism of the president, or that we are to stand by the president right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public." I love it because it's meaningful no matter who is in office. When members of the public are allowed...

4. Hired an installer? Vent...   (31 May 2009)
I've been an audiophile for most of my life. I set up a number of systems in my home and at my parents house, and have always had good results. I've also got my own opinions about AV equipment as well as my own resources. I'm also the type of person who would rather install something myself, so I have some knowledge of how it works rather then pay someone to do it for me. All that said, my brother told me that his friend had offered to upgrade my parents home theater. I thought about it for a wh...

5. Seattle Hacker hired by Obama Administration   (10 Jun 2009)
I actually met this dude a couple times. He's pretty nice and I believe use to play Doom, Quake, Quake 2, UT, and Counter-Strike back in the day. He wasn't that good. I always owned him on the Seattle servers. Quote: : President Barack Obama appointed well-known hacker Jeff Moss, founder of the Black Hat and Def Con hacker and security conferences, to be one of the newest members of the Department of Homeland Security Advisory Council (HSAC). Moss, 39, was among 16 people sworn in Friday by DHS...

6. Tattoos and getting hired.   (24 Jun 2009)
I thought I saw some information on here before and it must have been deleted. Are future firefighters still getting ink? Have you help off on getting a tat because of the job? What do you think about departments changing their hiring practices over the issue?

7. Thinking about leaving the nest, advice?   (17 Apr 2009)
A little background: Turning 20 this month and living at home. Only debt is $14k in student loans which is being paid off at $150/month. I've been working full-time in IT on contract at a company for about 8 months now and I am about to be hired on permanently in escalated (level 2 / 3) tech support. Gross salary is going from $30k to $42k. I'll have about 5 months (at least) salary in the bank before i move anywhere. My car is paid off and up to date on all maintenance. So i realize that there'...

8. Isaac Hawkhurst - Con-man, Smuggler, Hired hand and Freelancer   (02 Jul 2009)
Maylna had my attention. My complete undivided attention... Maybe it was the fountain pen held against my throat. I shouldn't have tried to steal his wallet. For an old man, he sure is quick! I thought scouting around these offices was going to be easy. The guards certainly were. And the Herald journalists hadn't noticed me either. But the Old Man was different. He was sharp, and as i think about it, so was that damn pen! But then he offered me something unexpected. A job. He said, if i could ge...

9. Van Conversions - Opinions   (09 Jun 2009)
Hello, Im looking into getting a little lorry in the next year or so when i will (hopefully!) have some money coming that has been left to me What better way to spend it, right? Anyway, I hired a little van conversion (the one that looks more like a lorry) last year and loved it so im leaning towards one of those. We only had it for two days though, so would really appreciate any opinions from those who own one and use it regularly. We found it REALLY easy to drive once you get used to it, and v...
