Leaving Tiki Ti
(11 Jun 2009)
Posted: 7 days ago; 9:41 pm
I thought it might be interesting to read fellow tiki drinkers war stories - you know the type of story - the one where you enter the Ti, have a drink... then another, and before you know it, you're sacked out Bill Maher's couch at his house wearing ladies underpants. Hmmm.... well, let's not start there.
I'll start with one of my many from the Ti....
Last year about this time, the Palm Springs Junta, decided to blow off some steam and hit the Ti on a Friday n...

Mogyothwar, shall we change roles?
(30 Apr 2009)

Hi Mogyothwar,
I have noticed that you always reply with pointing towards violations
of human rights elsewhere (and in the past) when confronted with
(alleged) human rights violations by the Burmese military junta, your
idols. You seem to be very well aware of the occurrence of human
rights violations in many places in the world, but you exclude Burma
from those places. Myanmar, according to you, is like he...

My complaint about Smosh -
(30 Jun 2009)
I've been debating with myself over the last few weeks whether or not I should write this. Obviously, I outvoted myself and wrote it. I concluded I absolutely had to tell you that Smosh should focus more on the quality of its writing than on the amount of drivel it can squeeze in. In the text that follows, I don't intend to recount all of the damage caused by Smosh's filthy hijinks but I do want to point out that Smosh somehow manages to get away with spreading lies (the Queen of England heads u...

Mogyothwar, the monologist
(04 May 2009)
On Mon, 4 May 2009 15:13:29 -0700 (PDT), James <James.Russell.Brownwood@gmail.com
Hi viewless Mogyothwar,
Disappointing that you don't want to cooperate in a vivid, fruitful
discussion; it was a serious attempt of me towards reconciliation
(note: not reconsolidation). You rather remain monologuising for tens
of pages; that way you don't need to engage in sensitive subjects.
Well, not really disappointing to me, I more or less expected that
from you, but disappointing for the Burmese peopl...

A grim but necessary choice

A grim but necessary choice
By Cyril Almeida
Friday, 29 May, 2009
HERES the scorecard so far: a few thousand militants in Malakand division; one military operation; over a million people displaced in a matter of weeks; a few thousand militants, soldiers and civilians combined probably already killed in the fighting; a destroyed economy in the northwest; a third devastating terrorist strike in Lahore in three months; ethnic fault lines re-opened with a vengeance in Sindh, and to a lesser ext...

The Stoneman Murders (2009) -
(30 Jun 2009)
Review By: Taran Adarsh
DR Reporter: P$B
Certain cases remain unsolved. Period. Years later, a film-maker dons the robe of a detective and starts investigating the truth, digging deep into files and newspapers.
The West has often produced films that do their own investigation. Now this trend seems to be catching up in India as well. Last year, Neeraj Pandey presented a piece of fiction in A WEDNESDAY; a case that never came out of the police headquarters. This week, writer-director Manish Gupta...

Challenge to dispute my essential criticism on Burmese politics
(01 Jun 2009)
On Mon, 1 Jun 2009 07:37:36 -0700 (PDT), James <James.Russell.Brownwood@gmail.com
Hi BaldEagle and noname Dot At Home and other SCB readers,
I have never said to be American or not. I only have said that I am
from the West and that I am a human rights activist. My nationality
and place of dwelling are not important. My background, Christian,
human and knowing what freedom is, is. I have explained this many
times, but I can imagine that some (new) readers may have missed it.
I have never...
