1. Sound Card or Onboard?   (03 Nov 2008)
I've always used my on board sound. Just wondering what difference will it make if I used a high quality sound card instead. Will I notice any difference in my games and music? etc And anyone with an explanation as to why i should use a sound card or stick with my on board sound can feel free to post their opinions here.

2. Need a new sound card. Opinions, Recommendations?   (07 Nov 2008)
First a little info about what I will be using this card for. I perform live electronic music busing separate channels out to a 16 channel mixer so i can mix it live, while controlling parameters using various midi control surfaces. I prefer to keep things desktop since even though it's more of a pain to transport it gives me more processing power for my VSTs. Currently I have a M-Audio Delta 410 which has been perfect for my needs up until now. For some reason the 410 is completely incompatible...

3. Multi-input sound card   (16 Nov 2008)
Right, sound cards. I'm thinking about buying a sound card so I can use my midi instruments (synth, drums etc) and also guitar, and vocals (XLR). I would also like to have multiple midi ins and out, and Phantom power. Max budget £140ish, have been looking at a http://www.inta-audio.com/products.a...=snd-us-mauftp for one, any other suggestions? Thanks

4. Do new pci sound cards come with MIDI Synthesizers?   (20 Nov 2008)
Or do they just use software to emulate MIDI? I remember back in the old days my Creative Sound Blaster AWE 32 played midi songs s much prettier than the way they sound now. I'm actually thinking about resurrecting that old computer (PII 333mhz Dell). Think is, the old AWE 32 fits in the old ISA slot. Don't make any motherboards with those anymore. And those motherboards that specialize in having ISA are very expensive. I'm just wondering if any of the new sound cards come with built in MIDI Syn...

5. New sound card not sure what to get now   (08 Nov 2008)
building a new computer most of my parts are here mobo is a MSI K9A2 Platinum running vista 64 after looking at the drivers for my audigy 2 ZS they do not have EAX support in vista 64 so I guess new card now, Mostlikely having to stay with PCI. Any suggestions? I was thinking about X-Fi XtremeGamer Fatal1ty Pro Series Then heard some not so nice things

6. does the sound card matter?   (27 Oct 2008)
Curiosity question: I have a series of wave and other files on the hard drive that I am thinking about processing on a pc that has only a standard, cheap sb card. I have decent software installed (Samplitude) and I'm wondering if the card will make any difference in quality as long I don't try to record with it. Isn't processing, effects, etc done through software and the pc itself and not the card? So, since the files are already in wave format, my belief is that it really shouldn't matter abou...

7. Recommend me a sound card   (14 Nov 2008)
I'm sick of onboard and I do have a budget of about $100 but I am willing to be flexible. If you can know of something considerably cheaper then sweet, but if you can only think of one solution then let me know about that too! Just tell me why you are all about this card. Please don't flame each other for opinions. My machine specs are on the side in case you are wondering about compatibility, and lastly I'm trying to keep a pci-e slot open for PhysX processing later. Thanks in advance

8. Good Audio Sound Card   (30 Sep 2008)
I've got an x-Fi Extreme Music (OEM HP I think) that has limited features under Vista. It plays fine but I am looking for opinions on a better quality card for music. I know there's no use feeding low end speakers with a good audio card. I'm only using 2.1 Klipsch Pro Medias but they sound pretty good. I'm thinking I could get a better sound with a better card. The question is: Would I notice a cleaner sound with a better card like an M-Audio or something else? My sound now can best be described...

9. New sound card with MIDI ports, or USB MIDI cable?   (06 Oct 2008)
I am going to upgrade the sound card of my WinXP computer (which runs DOSBox) and it appears more of the modern sound cards do not come with MIDI ports. But there are some that do, such as several high end audio cards with breakout cables for midi-in and midi-out. Now, I know I can save a bundle and not get one of those sound cards and just get a USB-MIDI adapter instead for my Roland SC-88. There are *several* USB-to-MIDI adapters available. So the question is, Is there any benefit to getting a...

10. Sound Cards   (14 Nov 2008)
It's gotten to the point where my onboard sound card will not cut it anymore. I constantly get popping and clicking in games (and sounds not being synced right in Source based games) and I'm in the market for a good sound card. However, I don't know much about sound cards (well, next to nothing really) and need some help picking one out, I need it to have at least 5.1 support (I'll take 7.1, but I only need 5.1). I'd like 24bit digital audio and a Line-in(or mic). I do not need a MIDI port, but...
