Guest Poet November/December A.M. Juster
(02 Nov 2008)
A.M. Juster has been kind enough to offer us two months of his time--and on very short notice which I greatly appreciate. The advice he shares below is thoughtful and effective. His poems succeed in finding that elusive balance between sound, emotion, and thought--the kind of poems that a person wants to reread and turn over in their mind before falling asleep.
Biography:
A.M. Juster is the author of three books: a collection of Petrarch translations, Longing for Laura (Birch Brook Press 2001; T...

You Blew It No more "favors" for you!
(02 Sep 2008)
This was a very frustrating situation, and I think I handled it in the best way I could, but I like to check myself....and thats where all of you fine folks come in.
Overall Background... I work in a financial department, Coworker (lets call him Jimmy) works in a different department, a very technical one.
When you want a check at my place of employment (to pay bills, purchase equipment, etc etc) one must go through the PO (purchase order, very inventive) process....which is annoying as heck, so...

Rosewill not so Rosey
(06 Sep 2008)
Buyers Beware:
Rosewill, advertises itself as a manufacturer of computer components through their website, ads at NewEgg.com, through people/companies/sites that review products, through non-existent company sites (TRG Electronics) that sells their wares through numerous re-sellers. In these same venues they advertise that they design and engineer their products to the highest level, this is claimed to reduce failures of the products.
Based in large part on their advertising, the fact they hav...

But good God, boredom just may have a shot.
When Resident Evil for the Sony PlayStation was new and receiving such accolades, I had the briefest of flirtations with it before giving it up. This was for several reasons that have nothing to do with the game itself, including:
-I was young and therefore dumb, and just couldn't hack it.
-I did not, in fact, own the game. Nor a PlayStation.
-Parents tend to object to such content when you haven't yet achieved a double-digit age.
So, I went back to en...

The End of Wall Street
(14 Nov 2008)
Unbelievable. I wouldn't advise starting this article unless you have time to finish reading it.
http://www.portfolio.com/news-market...ets-Boom#page2
To this day, the willingness of a Wall Street investment bank to pay me hundreds of thousands of dollars to dispense investment advice to grownups remains a mystery to me. I was 24 years old, with no experience of, or particular interest in, guessing which stocks and bonds would rise and which would fall. The essential function of Wall Street is t...

Another Perspective: Hamburg events Sept 3-6, 2008
(09 Sep 2008)
Following is my report on the recent week in Hamburg that I just made on enturbulation, org. FYI
Sorry for the upcoming wall of text but here is more of what happened this past week in Hamburg from my own perspective as one of the participants:
I arrived back home from Germany yesterday (Sept 7) and have managed to read some of the reports of the events in Hamburg last week.
At the risk of repeating things in parts of this report, I thought I would give my own perspective of what happened as well...

An Offer You Can't Refuse VII - TNA
(30 Sep 2008)
Surprised to see me?
If I could be arsed I would draw a nice little graph, illustrating the decline in my column output, but I can’t. In my first month of writing I put out four columns in a month. In my second, two, and then one the month after. There are a couple of reasons why: firstly, I just don’t have the time or the patience to write like I did. When I was writing four columns a month I was in school, and so I had plenty of free time to just sit for an hour or two and write. Then came exa...
