Thinking about upgrading from XP Pro to Vista Ultimate x64

Is this possible with my specs? As far as my research has shown, I
should be fine. The only problem is that I can't seem to find an upgrade
directly from Xp Pro to Vista Ultimate x64. Am i just going to have to
fork out the dough for the retail original install version?
I plan to turn this system into a media center with an extender down in
my living room.
Any advice is greatly appreciated.

First and foremost I know that the main issue on the boards right now is PT8 and getting everything to work. So I wanted to sidetrack a little.
We all know that Microsoft announced Windows 7 at PDC 08 and that beta version have been leaked to the net where computer geeks and nerds a like are testing its ability.

I'm thinking about upgrading to Windows Vista home premium 64 bit this winter. I have XP right now and I plan on doing a fresh install on a 500gb hard drive. My computer specs,
Mobo- Gigabyte GA-MA69G-S3H
CPU- AMD 5000+ X2 Black edition OC to 3.0ghz
RAM- 2gb DDR-2 800
Graphics- Nvidia 8400gs
I'm also going to get 4gb more of memory when I buy the hard drive and Vista. Will my computer handle Vista and will it be faster? My motherboard driver disk for Vista says 64 bit on it so, will my drivers w...

I am thinking of grabbing a version of Vista 64 home... Basically trying to squeeze some performance outa Crysis. Wonder if anybody else has run into problems running all other regular apps like MSN and Open Office... Any gripes?
