Thinking about selling my 2008 3s touring
(10 Nov 2008)
I have been listening to a lot of Dave Ramsey and reading online and I have come to the realization that I am going to have to sell my car in order to get my life in order. I graduated college a year ago with $30,000 in student loan debt and I went out and bought my new 2008 Mazda 3 in May for $18,000. I financed for 5 years and now owe $16,700 on it. I want to become debt free as soon as possible and it's going to be so much harder with a $333 a month car payment. I want to sell the 3 and get a...

What do you THINK about THIS....

What do you THINK about THIS.... Ok, I am really not sure how I get on all these mailing lists. I am constantly unsubscribing to things....but anyway I have gotten emails with info on "NAIS". Here is the latest one.
"Don't sign up for animal ID system
Friday, November 7, 2008 9:37 AM PST
Editor: People who sign up for the NAIS (National Animal Identification System) - even those who are signed up without their knowledge - may find that they have signed a "no-knock lease" with the USDA. Who, in t...

Please start thinking about the CMG Meet-Up No. 2
(03 Nov 2008)
If you have been following the CMG Contributor's thread—probably not the best place to discuss a forthcoming Meet-Up—then you know there is substantial interest in such an event.
Since the original idea came from our dear Canadian friend, Henry Slofstra, we hope he will be involved again. Werner Isler, our esteemed long-time CMGer will be coordinating things again.
We will need to select a month that is convenient for everyone (February 2008 was our last meet-up), then select probably a weekend...

Opinions wanted on low power Windows Server 2008 build (for use at home) ...
(07 Oct 2008)
I'm thinking about building a box at home with Windows Server 2008 on it.
I'm currently in a MBA program so that gives me a chance to use the OS for free.
https://downloads.channel8.msdn.com/
I could easily do this with a BE-2400 processor on a cheap AM2 motherboard or something equivalent, but I'd like to get others opinions on the hardware they've used or would recommend. I'd like to centralize and ensure my data safety with a RAID 5 setup. Perhaps get three 750GB or 1TB Sata drives. I'd like...

Thinking about Glenn Gould, for S.F. Classical Music Examiner
(22 Oct 2008)
On Wed, 22 Oct 2008 09:53:32 -0700 (PDT), scottlf <scottfoglesong@comcast.net
Hello All,
I'm planning a few articles on Glenn Gould's Columbia (Sony/BMG)
recordings for S.F. Classical Music Examiner, for the not-too-distant
future.
I'm wondering if any of y'all have any stories about your experiences
with Gould on record, or in any other medium? I'm not thinking so much
about whether you like or dislike his playing or recordings (heaven
knows there are a lot of strong opinions out there...

From Dan Denning at the Old Hat Factory:
--"Shares may slip as U.S. mood gets darker," reports Allison
Jackson in today's Australian. Indeed. We've had some dark
days in the last year here at the Old Hat Factory. But for
whatever reason, today is one of the darkest that we can
recall.
--Here's a warning. Today's Daily Reckoning is largely about
the growing tension between individual liberty and the
coercive powe...
