RRFF Review - something to think about
(10 Oct 2008)
This post is not going to make me the most popular bloke on here, but sharing opinions and providing information is the greater purpose of this website so Ill have a crack.
As an Ausfisher (with a background in science) I was at one of the recent RRFF meetings and was astonished with the way the DPI&F estimates of recreational catch and the varying estimates of the stock assessment (5 estimates ranging from conservative to less conservative) were immediately discounted as fudged figures and ...

Something to think about
(11 Nov 2008)

From Dan Denning at the Old Hat Factory:
--"Shares may slip as U.S. mood gets darker," reports Allison
Jackson in today's Australian. Indeed. We've had some dark
days in the last year here at the Old Hat Factory. But for
whatever reason, today is one of the darkest that we can
recall.
--Here's a warning. Today's Daily Reckoning is largely about
the growing tension between individual liberty and the

Thinking about a VPS
(05 Sep 2008)
I'm considering getting a VPS. I don't want it to be too expensive, but need about 40-50 GB and want root access.
Does anyone know of a good place to get that?

Seriously thinking about dropping my neuro
(27 Aug 2008)
Ever since my neuro moved to an office that is not accessible by bus, I have been thinking about dropping him and just going to my family doctor to get my Dilantin. My sz are controlled and stable, I know how I feel if my Dilantin level ever gets too high and I know to call to request a blood test if that happens. I know I need to take a calcium supplement and I get a bone density test every 2 years. As far as I'm concerned, for the last 11 of the 12 years I've been with my neuro, he really hasn...

Using MS Access & ODBC to connect to a remote PostgreSQL - Stack Overflow...
(01 Sep 2008)
I currently have an MS Access application that connects to a PostgreSQL database via ODBC. This successfully runs on a LAN with 20 users (each running their own version of Access). Now I am thinking through some disaster recovery scenarios, and it seems that a quick and easy method of protecting the data is to use log shipping to create a warm-standby.
This lead me to think about putting this warm-standby at a remote location, but then I have the question:
Is Access connecting to a remote databa...

Ft Wilderness & Cabins Accessability
(07 Nov 2008)
We booked a cabin at Ft Wilderness and I use an ECV. They said they will put a ramp up by the steps for the ECV. Looking for opinions and experiences at the cabins & Ft Wilderness regarding using an ECV. Will the rest of the family need a golf cart to get around...it looks pretty large? Also any pics would be great of an accessable cabin.

Thinking about uograde my Cubase Studio 4
(06 Nov 2008)
Hello. I'm thinking about upgrading my Cubase Studio 4 to the full version of Cubase. To save 25% Sales Tax (VAT) I'm thinking about doing this online but I have some concerns about doing it this way since Cubase's licence is dongle-based.
Has anyone got any experience with this? It this an uncomplicated matter? Is this even supported through Syncrosoft and the software?
I would be very happy an reassured if someone would explain me this process.
And; I did search the forum, but I did not find e...

Need opinions and thoughts on necessary processor power for web server
(29 Sep 2008)
Hi-
I have a web application that runs great on the current server I have, but there is the occasional page loading delay and there are delays when accessing certain functions, like drop down menus populated with database table data. Right now, I have the following server configuration:
Windows 2003 server
Athlon 64 3200+, 2.00gz, 2 gb ram
75 gb hard drive
This is a server I started renting about 2.5 years ago, and the configuration has not been changed since then. It is dedicated, and I need a...

If you have a silver (free) Xbox Live account, you won't be able to stream movies from Netflix account when the "New Xbox Experience" drops this fall.
"I think it's about adding value to the gold membership," said Xbox director of marketing Albert Penello. "I mean, obviously, the partnership there -- it's a lot of bandwid...
