Vegan opinion on domesticated animals.
(23 Oct 2008)
I'm a vegetarian but I was thinking about how a lot of vegans are against domestication of animals, eg pets due to it being considered exploitation. If this is true then how do people who believe this feel about guide dogs? I mean technically they are also being exploited under those beliefs...
Any opinions?

Animal Experimentation: Advancing Medicine or Torturing Animals?
(10 Nov 2008)
I wrote a paper on the subject as a senior in high school, but found myself thinking about the topic again randomly today. I'd just like a few more people who would like to share their opinion with me.
I'm for.
I love animals as much as the next cat (no pun intended), don't get me wrong. I think most animals are awesome and cute and fun to look at sometimes. But if the death of a few animals means people with painful, crippling diseases can find at least a bit of comfort and relief, even if it's...

Animals Like Characters
(02 Dec 2008)
Posting my own thread... creative but freaked.
So my friends and I are always thinking about this. What animals are like what characters and why? It's really fun to think about if you ask me... but then again I love animals. Here are my own opinions:
Maerad= snow leopard
Hem= hehe, crow
Dernhil= barn owl
Zelika= tigress
Cadvan= wolf
Saliman= horse (a freisian, they're so noble)
I hope I'm missing something glaring and obvious so as to spark a discussion Mind, then I'll have to hit my head on the...

(21 Oct 2008)
I love this fucking video. Say hi to your mother for me, alright?

And Wahlberg's revenge. I'm thinking about breaking that big beautiful nose of yours. (notice the annunciation and accent magically disappear)

Humans & Animals
(03 Dec 2008)
If you actually take a moment to think about the title of this thread, "Humans & Animals", you'd probably notice the fallacy I see in it. In truth, depending on who stated it and why, this can either be a grammatical error or a biological misunderstanding.
Just looking throughout, even veggieboards here, I come across statements like:
Quote: : I know that one of the first rules of parenting is "Don't lie to your kids".
I take it a step further: I don't lie to animals, either. And regardless of w...

Could Animals Talk?
(20 Nov 2008)
Ok so i was thinking about this the other day.
Its more on opinions and what you think.
There isn't really a way you could prove one way or another for sure.
Do you think that animals could speak in the garden of Eden?
At first the thought is no way. But think about it. When the serpent approaches Eve and speaks to her she starts talking back like its normal to be speaking to an animal.
It doesn't say anything about her fainting and being shocked that an animal is speaking to her.
But maybe they...

Keeping Large Snakes in Homes with Cats/Dogs and Other Animals
(21 Nov 2008)
How many of you big snake owners have cats and/or small dogs and other pets in your home as well? Do you ever worry about a pet going missing if your snake were to escape? If so, how do you prevent this from happening?
I ask these questions because I have been putting some thought into what I would like to have for my snake collection in the future. Currently I have a BP and 2 corns, all of which are still just little. Lately I have been drawn to BCIs but obviously I have a lot to think about be...

Thinking About It
(01 Dec 2008)
I used to have cockatiels a long time ago, back when I was in middle school and high school. I had two, both males. Their names were Peetree and Ajay. Peetree was the love of my life. We went everywhere and did everything together. I'd wake up in the morning and take Peetree out (Ajay was unsociable. I got him from a lady that kept him in his cage for a year without taking him out once. I worked for a year to get him to even accept me near the cage at all) and he'd stay with me until it was time...

Do Animals Suffer?
(05 Jan 2009)
Your opinions, please.
By "do animals suffer?", I mean, "do animals experience dukkha?"
Obviously animals experience pain and hunger, but I want to know if you think animals experience the type of suffering Buddhists are trying to eliminate.
Also, I'm talking about animals in general. Certain cases, such as maybe dolphins, or chimpanzees, may be exceptions to your opinion, but please do not base your answer solely off these special cases.
So, to be more specific:
In general, do animals experienc...
