Audio issues for editing to think about.

Hello,
I have a 30 minute docu-drama I am in need of editing. I hope to have it put on a DVD alongside other shorts looking at the theme, of the Berlin Wall.
I have found a suite which is very close to me and it has the following audio system:
"Full 5.1 suite using Soundscape and Cubase with a Fostex 24 track tied in through a Mackie DXB 72 channel console"
I am not too bothered about a 5.1 edit to be honest.
However there needs to be a lot of voice over work completed. Is this system suitable f...

Hello all, I've finally moved on from RMAing my P5Q Pro and 8800GS, so now I'm looking into an audio upgrade. My current setup is an ancient Creative SB Audigy "SE" 7.1 and some decent (but failing) Koss supra-aural headphones. I will give credit where it's due, because these two components have served me well for several years now, through many different rigs. New Pre-amp, Cambridge Audio Azur 840E vs. Audio by Van Alstine Insight EC...

I'm considering replacing my Adcom GFP-565 pre-amp and I'm looking at the new Cambridge Audio 840E and the new Insight EC pre-amp by Van Alstine. Both units are solid state with 8 inputs which I need. The Cambridge retails for $1699 but can be had for $1498 via Audio Advisor while the Van Alstine is $1049 before adding remote for $299 and a phono stage for another $299.
Any opinions on either or both?

Kinda pricey for their size but unusual in that they have AES/EBU inputs?

Thinking about buying my first Mac - Questions galore

Hi All.
I've been a life long Windows (and occasionally Linux) user, and desperately want to get myself a Mac. A 24" iMac that is.
Now, I've always heard that Macs are hard to upgrade (hardware wise), but maybe things have changed, so I hope someone can give me some advice (assume that all questions are in regards to the latest generation 24" iMac):
- Swapping out the CPU: possible? Can I replace the C2D CPU with a Quad? How about with just a faster C2D? Plug and play, or will the OS need to be...

In the market for a 24" LCD for home / gaming use on my PC. Lots of brands / models to choose from. After lots of web searching, thinking about the model in the title.
Is a TN screen, 1920x1200, tilt, swivel, height adj, USB hub, VGA, DVI and HDMI, speakers, audio in/out. All the basics I was after. About $470 here in Australia. Opinions about tis one? Any other brands / models that have similar features?

in my room i have 1 jl 10w6ae but its hard to find another one

Thinking About Upgrading My Desktop...

My desktop's a bit dated. I last upgraded it about two years ago. I have 2GB of DDR RAM, an AMD Athlon 64 4000+ CPU, and an nVidia GeForce 7600GT. I'm not worrying about the graphics card now though.
I think it's time to upgrade my computer though. I still have a single core CPU, for one, and though 2GB of RAM cost me $100 when I bought it, 4GB is just over $50 now.
What I'm wondering, about multi-core CPUs, is: how much difference would I see going from a single-core CPU to a multi-core (say, q...
