1. Blu Ray Anarchy - which option? -   (14 Dec 2008)
Full disclosure, I'm a complete neophyte on game consoles and a certified luddite on home theaters, HD, and pretty much anything that runs off a remote control. Kids grown so last rev. of a game console is prolly a PS1. The S.O. puts Blu Ray player on his wish list and wants Profile 2 compatibility for older DVD's. In looking at options, one school says get a PS3 (Santa is already bringing a Wii do we need another game console??) since you can readily download firmware, have great image quality,...

2. Anime on Blu Ray, what do you want? what will you rebuy?   (02 Dec 2008)
Anime on Blu Ray     Well I think I made a similar topic awhile back, but it came to mind again so I thought that I'd ask again.   Anyway Blu Ray is starting to pick up and become more peopular as such more movies (anime or otherwise) are being released on BD, often with special exlusive content that is not available on the other DVD version.   While I'm totally stocked about the change and the better quality that BD offers I started thinking. . . would I really re-buy all of my anime (assuming...

3. What Titles Have You Bought On Blu-ray?   (17 Nov 2008)
On Mon, 17 Nov 2008 16:02:51 GMT, Tweek <tweek@tehinternets.com True to my word in the thread from July, I have not been back to a movie theatre since they ruined my viewing of The Dark Knight by cutting the sound during the climax. Since Blu-ray discs are still fairly expensive, and I'm still relatively poor, I'm forced to be selective in my purchases. So far I select discs mainly on the following criteria: Demo-worthy material; highly rewatchable classic movie; the film is special...

6. Blu-ray disc player poll   (10 Oct 2008)
I thought I'd set up a poll to see how many are into Blu-ray or are thinking about getting into it - and how many have zero interest. Prices are coming down, and I am 100% sure prices will drop dramatically before Christmas. FYI, these are currently the most affordable Blu-ray players in the UK: Samsung BD-P1500/XEU - Blu-ray Disc Player: amazon.co.uk Samsung BD-P1500/XEU - Blu-ray Disc Player: amazon.co.uk (2 x disc bundle) Samsung BD-P1400/XEU Blu-ray Disc Player: Play.com

7. Blu-Ray player versus Upconvert DVD player   (21 Oct 2008)
I have seen in store "demos" and heard various opinions from other people. I guess I really need a poll and a few more people's opinion to make a decision. Some people have stated that up-convert dvd players work just as well as Blu-Ray, but research suggests that the quality is better. I have a 47" 1080p LCD screen and I'm trying to decide whether or not to get an up-convert DVD player or a Blu-Ray player. I'm NOT interested in getting a PS3 (Yes, I do know that it's the best of two worlds for...

8. PS3 vs. XBOX 360   (14 Dec 2008)
This Christmas my dad is thinking about finally upgrading our 27" CRT television to an LCD HDTV of some sort. If we end up getting some huge TV, I definitely want to get a new gaming system. I already have a Wii, so I was considering getting a PS3 or an XBOX 360. I can't decide which would be better though. XBOX has some sweet games out there, but PS3 has it's benefits... Here's a little list I made to help sway my decision one way or the other. Please feel free to add points for or against eith...
