Boot camp
(26 Oct 2008)
Warning - angry-at-the-world post coming up ahead...
Does anyone ever think they just need a freakin' boot camp? The bulimarexia boot camp. Where you go and herd cattle and fetch your drinking water from streams and eat what you can when you can so you can survive. Where you don't even stop to think about your bad relationship with your dad or your traumatic incidents from childhood or your perfectionism or lack thereof or anything, because you don't have TIME for that, you only have time to sur...

Boot Camp (8 Weeks)
(28 Oct 2008)
Seems like there are a lot of people talking about boot camp and joining the Coast Guard. At the Coast Guard Channel we just came up with a new Series "It's Just Eight Weeks" which follows Cape May Basic Training. For those of you thinking about joining I think this will be really good to watch. Take a look at it and let me know what you think.

FITLife Boot Camp
(28 Oct 2008)
FITLife (a personal training gym) has a lunch time Boot Camp program that I've been thinking about doing. I wanted to see if anyone else was interested in doing it with me (particularly the ladies ). There is a FREE preview of the program this Friday. I'm going to go to the free preview to see if it's worth it first. The Boot Camp is a 10 week program that meets twice a week and costs $150 ($15 per session), which you have to pay up front. The lunch time program is from 11:45a-12:30p on Wed/Fri...

I can survive Boot Camp with God!
(28 Oct 2008)
I felt moved to share a little something that happened yesterday with you..it's not much, but it gave and still gives me a little tingle to think about
I was in the shower (my least favorite event when I'm overweight!) and feeling miserable. I've been sick for the past two years which caused the weight to jump on in the first place. I lost all the weight, gained it back, and have been trying for the last year to get it off again. Literally dozens of times. A couple times I made it to a week, a f...

Quick question...
(16 Nov 2008)
...My DB is leaving for boot camp tomorrow. () And I am definitely going to write him and send him pictures and cards and stuff...but...
DB's birthday and Christmas will fall while he's at boot camp. I've been thinking about sending him one of those cards for his birthday that you can record a short message on, but I don't know if that would be wise. I don't want to get him in trouble or get him made fun of or anything.
Any advice, ladies? If I can't, that's fine, I'll just send him a regular bi...

Danner's vs a campfire!
(29 Oct 2008)
Campfire wins! Sat my Danner's out by the fire Sunday morning. Got busy breaking camp. Glue and mid-sole on Danner's melted.
I checked the Danner web site; looks like $90 will fix em up good as new. I just don't want to be without them for the next deer season which opens for us on December 6th and runs one week.
Thinking about some Gorilla Glue and clamps to see if I can make due through December, then send them back first of next year.
Any thoughts (besides "Don't leave yer boots by the fire n...

Choosing a fighting form...
(15 Nov 2008)
So, lately I've been thinking about getting into some type of fitness program, like a boot camp class, kickboxing, or some other type of martial arts form. I want something that will be good for developing and maintaining fitness, and something that might actually be beneficial for me in a LE career.
Where should one start, do you think? I've thought of boxing, but honestly I don't even know what to do to get started in something like that. I need some instruction. Any ideas or suggestions you h...
