2. Your Opinions: What does boxing do now?   (17 Dec 2008)
The Pacquiao fight signalled the end, as a big-time PPV attraction, of boxing's last big US mainstream-media star. Oscar can no longer beat the top echelon little men (who are too fast for him) or the top echelon big men (who are too strong for him). Without Oscar, the last of the network-TV gold-medal Olympians to reach a non-fanatic audience, the sport will have lost its final tentpole attraction here in the United States and, with Olympic boxing relegated to the ghetto of basic cable news, th...

6. Hall still talking boxing career   (20 Oct 2008)
Is anyone else sick of all the talk aout Barry Hall entering the world of boxing? For the past 3 years weve been told about how good a boxer he would be, and how he could dominate the new sport if he was to move into it. Ffs Barry, make up your mind one way or another so we don't have to keep enduring endless speculation! I want to see him leave just so some big nugget can knock him out Quote: : SYDNEY Swans coach Paul Roos says he is waiting to hear from Barry Hall about any possible move to bo...

7. Recommend boxing equipment for a newbie.   (15 Dec 2008)
Hey everybody, I joined a gym about two weeks ago and I am enjoying the experience. I have no boxing experience and I completely suck. I want to purchase some boxing gear that I can use at home in between visits to the gym. I was thinking about a speed bag, heavy bag, and gloves. Can you guys recommend some equipment for me? I was looking at Twin Special gloves for about 50 bucks. I don't know whether to go with 14oz or 16oz though. I went to the local sporting goods store to look at heavy bags,...

8. CyberKwoon View topic - Mixing western boxing with xingyi   (04 Nov 2008)
I have recently been looking around my area, and have found two gyms that I am pretty interested in. A normal western boxing gym, and a guy who is teaching xingyi. The xingyi is a recent addition to the area, the gym is more established. Well, the problem is that I want to do both. I used to box a bit when I was younger (nothing really serious) but I enjoyed it a lot. I have also went to a couple of classes with the xingyi guy, and also like it a lot. My main concern is that the xingyi guy does...

10. Boxing day   (22 Dec 2008)
Noticed that the Ryman and Southern league games are on Saturday and not Boxing day, I think you would get bigger crowds on the saturday as a lot of people like to spend time with their familys, also no trains on a Boxing day. Opinions?
