1. Wisdom in investing in Minolta A mount / SONY :   (11 Dec 2008)
I'm a beginning photographer and I have the A700 and about six A mount lenses such as the 18-70 kit lens, minolta 50mm f/1.7 , sigma 18-50 f/2.8, tamron sp 35-105 f/2.8, tamron sp 500mm f/8 and three zooms (28-200,28-300 sigma & 70-300 1:2 macro tamron) a very close family member who is also a newbie just picked up the canon 50d with 85 f/1.2L and wil be buying more hq lens. my experience is that many of the camera stores sell very few high end sonys and it is hard to find accessories and lenses...

2. Other monopod choices for Canon G10   (21 Nov 2008)
Michael Reichman's review of the Manfrotto 685B Monopod was well timed for me -- I was just starting to think about getting a very lightweight tripod or monopod for my G10. It's really the camera that I want to take everywhere with me; the image quality in raw is excellent and I'm learning to love the camera more and more. The Manfrotto 685B is too large and heavy for what I want. I'm trying to decide between the Gitzo 2540 or the 2561T. The main differences being that the 2540 only folds down t...

3. Why I am waiting on the A900 - thinking outloud:   (12 Oct 2008)
I was not impressed with the specs at launch.. Some of that was we knew most it before and so there were no surprises. I am more impressed now based on images and some evaluations by those able to look at it from the outside, who are adding or changing from mostly Canon. So it comes down to two key factors. V4 on my A700 and Cash... I have seen some people say they are selling their A700 to move to the A900. I am not ready to do that. Also I have gotten by with sleeper lenses etc. I think I need...

4. First Wedding--Lessons learned:   (03 Nov 2008)
Although I did not use a camera that is the subject of this particular forum, I thought I would, nonetheless, share my experiences shooting my first wedding, especially since this topic has come up recently. Basically, I linked up with the couple through Craigslist. They wanted something nice but cheap, and I needed experience. So we struck a deal. The bride was a pleasure to work with, and we developed a good working relationship. Prior to the wedding I met with the bride and groom and insisted...

5. Upgrading to a FF camera..suggestions?   (11 Nov 2008)
I am looking to get into a full frame camera and have been reading lots of reviews and articles and the more I read the more I am confused. I am shooting with an XTI now and have several good lenses. I will be using it mostly for portraits and want the larger sensor to get wider angles from my lenses and perhaps better picture quality. What is the best "bang for the buck" Canon camera. I would like to stay as far below $2000 as possible. I am thinking that the 5D would be a good choice any opini...

6. Interview with Portrait and Wedding photographer Punam Bean   (23 Dec 2008)
I recently interviewed Punam Bean for my website, I dont want to appear to be promoting my site on the forum and so here is the transcript; 1. Can you please tell me a bit about yourself and your photography? My name is Punam Bean, and I run my photography business out of my home, in Long Island City, NY. I’ve been shooting weddings for about a year and a half, and before that time, I didn’t know how to use a camera or what an aperture was. I learned by shooting, and poking around the internet a...
