Opinions Needed- Caribbean or Alaska cruise?
(21 Dec 2008)
I'm supposed to be planning our cruise for this year and have basically come down to two options.
1) 7 day Western Caribbean Cruise- (Cozumel, Belize, Isla Roatan, Grand Cayman) during April
2) 7-day Southbound Alaskan Cruise duing the summer
3) 7-day Northbound Alaskan Cruise during the summer
We did an Eastern Caribbean last year... but have never done an Alaskan or Western Caribbean... has anyone done an Alaskan cruise?
The Alaskan sounds interesting, but at the same time, what really is ther...

Need help picking a caribbean resort

Like the title says
the wife and I are looking into a resort destination for a winter get away/second honeymoon type of deal
Our first honeymoon was in the summer and while these resorts looked fun - we wanted to do it when it was 10 degrees and snowing outside at home
I have heard nothing but good things about Sandals resorts from family, friends and even the internet.
Our local airport has specials just to Cancun
Right now its very open but Cancun and Jamaica are towards the top of the list

carnival vs royal caribbean
(30 Dec 2008)
We've been on 4 Carnival cruises over the past couple of years and were thinking about jumping ship to Royal Caribbean. Carnival's cruises have been absolutely great so we're beginning to wonder if it's worth the change. Specifically, we enjoy the daily special drinks on Carnival and wonder if RC have the same. Hmm...is alcohol that important? Hells yeah! We'd read that the Enchantment of the Seas has had some water problems. Key West, Cozumel & Belize City are stops on the RC cruise out of Miam...

So many Travel Bugs are trapped in caches in the Caribbean Islands...
(17 Oct 2008)
I am traveling to several islands in the Eastern Caribbean, namely St. Thomas (US Virgin Islands), St. Maarten (Netherlands Antilles), Eleuthera (Bahamas) and Grand Turk (Caicos Islands). The first 2 have several caches and many of them have travel bugs/coins that have been there for a very long time. These caches get only occasional visits. The rescuer in me wants to scoop them all up and get them outta there and back into circulation. What should I do? Leave them there or move them along?
I've...

No Caribbean Team In The Final Hex?
(16 Oct 2008)
It is very possible that the final hex of CONCACAF will be without a Caribbean nation. Don t you think that the CONCACAF format of qualifying must be changed and renewed?
Something that could guaranted one or two Caribbean teams in the final stages or rounds, two from Central America and two of North America.
You can see for example, that the qualifying rounds of CONCACAF under 20 always have 2 or 3 nations of the Caribbean in the finals..
what do you think about?

Live from the Maasdam - Nov 7 to 21, 2008 - Southern Caribbean
(07 Nov 2008)
Well, almost live - it's just a matter of hours. Thought I'd get my pre-cruise report posted while we have a less expensive access to the internet.
Flight - American Airlines, ORD to FLL - This is usually the only dreaded part of the trip for us. However, we used FF Miles to upgrade to first class and I have to admit I could get used to traveling like that. Definitely civilized - especially the separate, and swift, TSA line. Being served a nice meal (and warm cookies) isn't too shabby either. I...

Port Orleans or Caribbean Beach?
(27 Nov 2008)
I was thinking about taking advantage of the special (4 + 3) and I was looking at the more moderate priced resorts. I'm struggling between Port Orleans & Caribbean Beach. Which does everyone think is the better resort? I thought CB would be closer to Epcot than it is (still have to take the bus either way), but it seems like PO is pretty much just as close and is closer to DTD. I've personally seen PO and the landscape and such seems like it's very nice, haven't seen the rooms though. Anyone hav...

Cacheing in the Caribbean
(01 Dec 2008)
Hi all!
I work at a resort in the Caribbean and we were thinking about doing a couple of GC's so that our guests would have another activity to do. I was reading some of the rules about commercial caches and didn't know if ours would fall under that rule.
We are going to do them on our nature walks and maybe a couple underwater since we are a scuba resort. You wouldn't have to be a guest here to come look for them. We are the only scuba shop in the area though so if people wanted to look for the...

Beach Flags and Swimming in the Mexican Caribbean
(27 Dec 2008)
As the tourist season in Cancun starts to pick up after the traditional slow season, I'd just like to post a reminder here for folks visiting Cancun and the surrounding coastal areas and Islas.
On the Cancun Beaches, Surf Condition Flags are posted daily and changed appropriately during the day based on the level of safety concerns. If you're going swimming pay attention to the flags and know what the colors stand for. Do not enter the water when the flags indicate dangerous conditions may be pr...
