Thinking about a 2003 SL500 opinions wanted...
(05 Nov 2008)
Hi guys. I've always loved the SL from 2003+ years and now that they're getting under 30k I'm seriously considering the purchase of one. I'm wondering how reliable they are in the long term. I'm looking at higher mileage cars (70k+ miles) so I'm concerned with things such as the power roof, tranny, and engine motor.
I'm also wondering what you guys think is a fair price to pay for an '03 sl500 with say 70k miles in good shape with a clean title.
Also what about the navigation system? Is the '03...

Thinking about hiring a cleaning lady
(27 Sep 2008)
I'm getting ready to go back to work in the next few weeks and was thinking about hiring a cleaning lady to come in maybe once or twice a week. My husband is the stay at home parent and I thought it would be nice to try and get someone in there to help him out while I'm gone for the next few months. I know he'll say he can handle it all but I know how hard he works just trying to keep up with our son.
So with that said, does anyone have any good advice about this? We just moved back to Virginia...

Should I Be Thinking About Sensor Cleaning?
(04 Nov 2008)
I am getting a few noticeable spots, especially on landscapes (in the sky) so following instructions in another thread I've done a test shot. Manual focus to infinity, f/32, 30mm, ISO 100, 0.5" exposure.
1. Straight From The Camera (resize and sharpen)
2. PS CS3 Auto Levels (plus resize and sharpen)

thinking about first mods
(09 Oct 2008)
did a little reading and noticed a lot of people go with the APS intake, it definitly looks really good and really cleans up the engine bay a lot compared to the cobb one or other short ram intakes
and then i started looking at exhausts, no dp's yet. want something with a definite growl (not too bassy), no drone sound, and a good fit. I want something that gives the performance, but doesnt scream "omg look at me!" So I think i've decided on the Cobb. - i think i read that the cobb has problems a...

How clean is too clean?
(10 Oct 2008)
So I had my new pressure washer out yesterday, cleaning my vinyl siding, and my wife says in the manual that you can clean your grills with it. I said that I didn't want to, because I had a built up a layer on the 'grill'/ grating/racks that prevented rust. Even though my smoker's racks are coated in porcelain, I stopped cleaning my plain metal ones long ago, because I didn't like the rust that grew on clean metal. (I do wipe them down before the next smoker session, though.)
So what does everyo...

Clean History improvement - Suggestions, Opinions & Feature Requests
(15 Oct 2008)
As it is now, we are three clicks away from the Clean History command:
1. To open the Web Toolbar (I keep it closed/hidden to gain screen space)
2. To open the Clean Browser History dialog box.
3. To hit the Clear Now! button (selected button by default is Close).
My suggestion is to improve things in two ways:
1. A keyboard shortcut for a one-step action (like competitor Firefox's Ctrl+Shift+Del)
and/or
2. Set the Clear Now! button as default (for those not fond of keyboard shortcuts)

Opinions on "Bore Snakes" as a general barrel cleaning tool
(26 Oct 2008)
Wanted to start a thread and hopefully an educated debate on the use of "bore snakes" for general barrel cleaning.
As this topic applies to virtually every type of firearm, bolt actions, leverguns, pistols both semiauto and revolver, rimfires, etc. I figured that the "general discussion" section would be the best section of this forum in which to post.
My general impression of the "bore snake" is nothing but favorable, here's why:
1. They can be used in every firearm that I can think of offhand...

I'm thinking about withdrawing my posting from this site
(02 Nov 2008)
Someone called me a big mouthed potty brain. I guess if I'm a big mouthed potty brain, then maybe I should stop posting here. I think some people want to hurt big mouthed potty brained's feelings. Maybe someday you'll have to clean up isle six too. Sniffle.

Anyone use a cleaning service? I need opinions/advice.
(03 Nov 2008)
So the mister and I have been seriously discussing having a cleaning service come in to help us out with keeping the house up. We're only interested in having someone in to look after the main living areas (living room, kitchen, hallways, bathroom) and feel it might motivate ourselves and the kids to do a little more than the bare minimum on a regular basis. Keeping the house neat and tidy has always been a catch 22 situation because:
A) we entertain a LOT (thus requiring cleanliness then having...

Thinking about selling that WS6
(25 Sep 2008)
I'm thinking about selling my car. This Last year I've put around 4k or more with the addition of the 6pt roll bar, C5 brake conversion, and the Mosier 9". So I'm having a difficult time putting a price on this thing. I realise these are not recoverable but at the same time I want to ask a fair price (for me) and not sound greedy
