1. Is There A Big Speed Difference Between The Mac Mini Core Duo and the Core...   (26 Sep 2008)
Hey everyone !!! I was just wondering is there a big speed different between the core duo Mac Mini and the core 2 duo. I was thinking about getting a Core Duo to save some cash. Is it the best way to go? for now because I have a feeling Apple is going to be releasing a new Mini Mac Pro/Mid-size tower in January when the next "Mac" only event is.

3. Athlon 64 X2 TK-57 vs Core 2 duo T5670   (18 Oct 2008)
I've been looking at laptops recently to help pick one out for my sister. She needs a new laptop and only uses it for web surfing, emails, office related tasks (Words, Excel, publisher, etc) as well as watching dvds and tv shows online. So she doesn't need alot of power, however, because she uses it to watch shows, a 15" screen would be ideal and the small netbooks are out of the question. Also she only wants to spend $500. My parents are going to pitch in to help as part of her birthday/christm...

4. Duo or Quad?   (07 Oct 2008)
Currently processors im thinking about are E8500, Q6600 (and possibly Q6700). From looking at some benchmark charts at Tomshardware.com, it seems that for applications (for the most part) Quad core processor would be the best option, then again the games tested seem to prefer Duo. Is this correct? Do games simply perform worse due to the game not using all the cores (multithreading)? Would Quad core be best bet for the future, when games actually do take full advantage of the "extra" cores? Any...

5. Quad-core or Dual-core ? Which one do I pick ?   (29 Oct 2008)
First, let me say that I am taking a shot at this, please feel free to suggest things I missed. Of special interest, are a list of software and games that are multi-threaded, so please post those, and I will update the master list here. So, the first thing you need to think about is what software will I be using ? If its primarily on the multi-threaded list, or you want to be prepared for new software that IS multi-threaded, go for a quad. Below is my short list(soon to be updated, please valida...

6. Just got a Mac Mini Core Solo for a steal   (02 Oct 2008)
HAHAHAHA, I am so happy today, I bought a Mac Mini Core Solo from a co-worker today. He just upgraded to a new iMac 24" and loves it and doesn't need his old Mac Mini Core Solo. He came over to my desk asked if I wanted it, I asked how much, he told me 200 bucks!!!! I went to the bank and gave him cash. I have never seen a Mac Mini Core anything online that cheap. Thinking about doing a CPU Swap in it to either a Core Duo T2300 because of how inexpensive the CPU is, you can get it on eBay for ab...

7. Newb with 500 squid! Advice/opinions on this potential rig appreciated :)...   (13 Oct 2008)
Newb with 500 squid! Advice/opinions on this potential rig appreciated :) Well, I say newb but this will be my 5th completely new build in 16 years. It scary to think how much hardware has changed since then! Anyway, I feel like a newb these days because my current build, a trusty Athlon XP-based rig, dates back to early 2001! Yes folks, I’ve been surviving for over 7 years thanks to some hefty over-clocking and the occasional budget upgrade. I certainly never planned to go this long between bui...

8. Multiple Cores 101 and DoW2   (04 Nov 2008)
Can anybody explain to me some processor fundamentals. Thinking about getting a 2Gig duo core in the January Sales. Can anybody explain the whole single, duo, quad core thing as im a little unclear about power increases and how they improve the running of your system. I know that a duo is not twice as powerful as single core and the same goes for a quad not being twice as powerful as a duo as the cores allocate up jobs to different cores. Also how much luck would I have running the following Gam...
