Handmade Denim Micarta

I wanted to try out new materials so I decided to try and make my own micarta. I took an old pair of Polo jeans, and made a block of denim micarta. I had no idea how it was going to come out as I have never seen it done before. The finished product I thought came out pretty nice. I would like the feedback and opinions of others who turn pens as well. I have been turning pens for about 3 months, and I am always trying new things. I dont want to make the same old boring pens, I want them to stand...

Thoughts on a Bapetalk Denim Contest

So i've been wondering who would be up for an official Bapetalk Denim contest, at the starting of this year, for all those who don't know. Basically what it is, is a contest where everyone wears the same model denim for the duration of the contest, and weekly or so, we take pics and see how the process of our denims are doing. Whats your thoughts on Samurai S5000VX Denim

Was thinking about grabbing 2 pair both are raw denim.... Black and Natural. Just wondering if anyone has experience with sizing,fading and shrinking etc. All comments are welcome.

Denim jackets?

In spite of always having liked denim jackets,you know,the waist length,metal buttoned type sometimes called a "truckers" jacket(at least by Levi's),I've hesitated buying one.Maybe because I don't live on a horse ranch or drive an 18 wheeler and am old enough and retired enough to join AARP,I can't summon(thus far) the "nerve" to get and be seen in public in one.I occasionally wear Levis around,but would never wear them at the same time as the jacket...a bit much,I'd say.Am I just being silly,to...

All items have been used occasionally by me. All have been washed in cold water and line dried. All show some but minimal wear and have plenty of use left.

Denim + Snow = ?

This may sound incredibly silly but... I was thinking about this on my way home just now... I'm closing in on the 6 month mark on my pair of APCs and I was thinking I should bury them flat under a pile of snow for a night.
Has anyone done this before? Thoughts? Do you think it will 'soak' them?

Baptism wardrobe

Would you put your son in denim overalls and a long sleeved shirt for his baptism? We are not suit or sweater vest kind of people, but we aren't slobs either. I think denim overalls and a long sleeved shirt would still look nice, crisp, and respectable.
Opinions?
And if so - would you do just a long sleeved white onsie, a white button down shirt, or a button down shirt with a pattern of some kind?
Feel free to suggest and be honest, I'm not easily offended and I'm not PMSing so my feelings won't...

car respray - is it worth it

Hi all
I have been thinking about getting my denim blue tt resprayed another colour, my question is, is it worth it? what puts me off is having a different colour engine bay etc.
Has anyone had there's re sprayed? if so can you post pics?

I'm looking for new jeans and am tossing up between G-Star and Bettina Liano Aces. I would appreciate opinions on either brand and any other brand I should check out (I like dark denim and no coloured stitching, skinny leg)
