Opinions on this suit, please...

I picked up this suit at the thrift store yesterday because (a) I don't have a single-breasted suit with peaked lapels, (b) I liked the fabric, (c) it fit me perfectly, and (d) it was only ten bucks.
But I'm not sure about that curvy lapel line...
...or the extreme slant to the pockets.
The trouser legs are quite wide with a slight flare at the bottom...
...but that's an easy fix.
Other than the flared trousers, is this an otherwise wearable suit or is it just too 70s for good taste?

Bespoke balance study: lapel width

The dapper young Rubinacci client, mafoofan, who is always generous with sharing both his experiences and photographs of what he wears, just posted photographs of recently completed bespoke jackets and a fine double-breasted flannel suit.
Let me just start out by saying that anyone would be lucky to be exercising such taste in the flesh, and when you take into account that M. is only recently out of school, it is all the more remarkable that he embodies such confidence in tailored clothes.

I need a new Tuxedo for the Inaugural Ball season. I had been getting away with a black Therry Mugler Peak Lapel suit for some time now, but I think it's about time I get a real Tux.

Two semi-formal wear questions

1) Does anyone have specific suggestions on wear to find affordable self tie bows and cummerbunds in black grossgrain? (I will be trying the usuals such as ebay)
2) More importantly, is it correct to wear a grossgrain bow and cummerbund if the lapel of the dinner jacket is actually a 'plainer' silk satin? If ordering on line, I will not have benefit of doing a close compare.

Political buttons - Anyone recognize

I found these 2 buttons among a large collection of political buttons & union buttons that I recently purchased. The collection contained general political buttons, but it also had a good number of socialist party pins.
Does anyone recogonize this man?

MTM Samuelsohn Corduroy Jacket

I will be commissioning a MTM Samuelsohn corduroy jacket in the next few weeks, and wanted to get the opinions of the esteemed SF community of styling details.
- Colour: I'm debating between a chocolate brown and a rich golden tan colour. Thoughts on versatility?
- Fabric: If anyone has any specific fabrics I should look at, please let me know. I'm thinking of the LP Zealander collection as a start.

Jacket Dating: Brown Double Breasted

G'Day All,
The second jacket I'm trying to date is this double breasted, pin striped jacket. Now given what was written in the Dating a Suit thread, I'd guess to this be 80's, based on Dinerman's comments about the low, narrow button stance.
What's unusual about this suit though is the material. It's a very heavy, very coarse weave material. It's almost like a burlap bag. I tried to take a close-up of the weave, but it didn't show up very well.
