Timberwolves' Rashad McCants upbeat about new coach after bad s...
(10 Dec 2008)
It would appear that McCants has a higher opinion of himself than anyone else does. I would think that you would actually have to do something special before you starting talking about "how good I am". Last I checked, he was a 4th year, former mid first rounder, who is having trouble getting minutes on a 4-16 team.
McCants is one of the more athletic players that the wolves have, and does have some talent. However, it does not appear that he has "future NBA GM" written all over him as he apparen...

Fantasy Discussion
(29 Oct 2008)
I didn't see a Fantasy Basketball forum, so I figured I'd start a thread where people can ask/answer some questions.
I'll start.
In my 12 team pay league I have Deron Williams and need a week 1 replacement. Most of the good/decent guards are gone, so I took a flier on a couple rookies. Who should I start, Eric Gordon or Mario Chalmers?
Other FAs include: Steve Blake, Rashard McCants, Nate Robinson and Antonio Daniels (yes it is a deep league )

Odds McCants is here next year?
(26 Oct 2008)
OK, for me, I can't answer this question, so I was looking for some opinions. McCants has been here three years, but I still can't get a feel for the guy, and his longterm impact. I understand that his performance this year will be important, but I need some other opinions.
I'll skip the production/attitude part, but here's the financial end.
Next season, he's a restricted free agent. In order to retain the rights to match any offer, we'd need to offer him about $3.65 mil. For comparison, that's...

Would you consider AK for Love?
(22 Dec 2008)
All everybody seems to be talking about these days is trading this for that and such.
The way I see this season is simple: see how many NBA starter caliber players you have and work your way up from there. As it is right now, I see Big Al and Foye as starters. Love could be a borderline starting quality player next year and get better from there. Nobody else in this roster is worth a starting spot.
So, the team needs three starters: a C, a SF and a SG. They have the draft picks, the Pekovic fact...

Foye at SG
(30 Dec 2008)
Early in the year many of you were calling for Foye to move to SG as his more natural position. I disagreed, saying I thought he was improving as a PG and was too short to play full-time SG.
Foye has been playing more and more SG of late, for multiple reasons. McHale likes Ollie's veteran influence, Miller has been hurt, Brewer is out for the year, McCants has totally stunk it up, and Telfair needs minutes. It is also possible McHale is coming to accept what many of you have been saying about Fo...

Young Players Available Around the League??
(04 Jan 2009)
As I think about how successful organizations operate over the years vs. how the Wolves have operated for most of their time, I see that successful clubs find ways to pluck talented young guys off other rosters and give them a chance to shine in a different environment.
A few examples come to mind immediately: Steve Nash (when Dallas originally acquired him from PHO), Chauncey Billups (although you could say he had started to emerge for us and we just let him go at the wrong time), Jermaine O'Ne...

Andris Biedriņ: borderline star?
(10 Nov 2008)
Breaking out from the Are the Warriors Gonna Suck This Year? thread. In light of Biedrins' eye-popping start to his age 22 season (17.3 pts /14.1 reb / 1.7 blk / .552 fg) I thought it might merit revisiting. I imagined it might also spin off into more general topics: the value of rebounding/defensive fools who aren't the primary, secondary, or tertiary scoring options on their teams (Is Rodman a star? e.g.); or whether there's such a thing as "system players" who might thrive under one type of p...

Standing Ovation For Lebron
(19 Dec 2008)
I finally got to a game tonight and boy was it a treat to see Lebron. Fans at Target Center gave Lebron a very nice one minute standing ovation after he was pulled from the game in the 4th quarter. This guy was simply unreal tonight like he is every night. The Cavs don't need to get him open shots, the guy simply will make anything over anyone and from any distance. The T'Wolves have to work so hard to get good shots but in my opinion any shot is pretty much a good shot for Lebron as it has a go...
