West Philly Area: Need Some More Advice

Hi guys, I'm back, and I'm looking for some more advice... =)
I borrowed a cheap mountain bike to commute ~10 blocks around the West Philadelphia area, between 30th and 40th streets. Now, I have seen the light! Walking definitely sucks...
I'm looking to invest a bit more in a road bike or a hybrid (less chance of getting flats?) ~$500, but this limit is semi-flexible depending on how good the bike is. Any suggestions? What do people think about the bikes that Firehouse Bicycles is selling on 50t...

Now 97.5 in the Philly area has gone 24/7 Christmas Music as of the beginning of the Month. "An early Christmas Present thank to the Phillies" someone reported.

Phillies and LADs

So... the Phillies are obviously doing very well against the Dodgers. 3-1 as of last night's game with an amazing rally and comeback late in the game. No other threads about baseball? Maybe I missed it.
World Series bound, shall we say? I know I'm a Philly transplant and not a "true" fan but it's pretty cool to be in a city that goes nuts over something like this. Considering the fact I am getting more and more into baseball, we were thinking about getting season tickets next year.

Anyone hitting lotus this fall? I am thinking about heading up to philly on Halloween to see them, i've got a lot of buddies who are doing the same. I'm also planning on seeing them here in Richmond at the National on Nov. 2.
