Barack "Osama' on Rensselaer County Ballots
(10 Oct 2008)
Quote: :
TROY Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama's last name is spelled "Osama" on hundreds of absentee ballots mailed out this week to voters in Rensselaer County.
The misspelling, which elections officials on both sides of the aisle insist was simply a typo, is causing embarrassment for the county.
''No question this is an honest mistake innocently done,'' said Edward McDonough, the Democratic commissioner. ''We catch almost everything.''
''This was a typo,'' said Republican Comm...

A Prayer for Barack
(03 Nov 2008)
A Prayer for Barack I am placing this thread here in Religion/Metaphysics because, even though it is political in one sense, in another sense, is much more and seems a better fit here than in the rough and tumble caveat emptor atmosphere of P&G. I hope that our mods will agree.
This is a re-post of a thread on DU by kpete, who cites a diary on DKos by vmm918 as her source. There are other prayers of protection from various faiths offered up by DU members on kpete's thread, so it is worth looking...

I wish I could Support Barack Obama
(28 Sep 2008)
No I don't really. Just too stubborn I guess.
September 27th, 2008 by SE Pierce
I wish I could support Barack Obama in this election season. The reason for this wish is relatively simple, convenience.

Imagine how simple your daily life would be if you cared only for yourself and viewed the rest of the world in terms of what it could give you. Imagine the liberating sens...

(11 Oct 2008)
"...and somehow the typo got by us." If he actually managed that with a straight face, give that man an Academy Award for Best Actor.
The GOP has no limits when it comes to character assassination.

Back in the spring of this year I was preparing to teach class when I noticed that one of my students looked despondent. He was normally upbeat with energy and with vibrant intelligence. "Are feeling alright, Tafari?"
"Yes, teacher." But his eyes told me something else. He continued, "I was thinking of what we learned the other day about the great Africans who were struck down b...
