Does My Big End Look Big In This?
(29 Sep 2008)
Hi all, im a new member so Hello to everyone!
I have the 1.8 Gen7 VVTi 140hp Celica.
I've searched the forums and have had no luck, so here is my problem:
My oil light didn't work... and yes you can guess the rest!
Run for 30 miles with no sign of problems, but then I heard the dreaded rattle. I checked the oil and it was virtually empty. This after topping it up a few thousand miles earlier. I immediatly put some good stuff in and obviously is a lot better... BUT...
It seems to run ok, except a...

Why is US Forced to Rely on Enemies for Gas and Oil???
(27 Oct 2008)
The following email I received (and am now passing on) explains the reason why it is that America is being forced to rely on enemy nations that desire her demise for gas and oil:

The U.S. Geological Service issued a report in April ('08) that only scientists and oilmen knew was coming, but man was it big. It was a revised report (hadn't been updated since 1995) on how much oil was in this area of the western 2/3 of North Dakota; western South Dako...

Canola Oil - Toxic, poisonous, deadly? No... just an Urban Legend
(03 Oct 2008)
Quote: : Dear Friends
Recently I bought a cooking oil that is new to our supermarkets, Canola Oil. I tried it because the label assured me it was lowest in 'bad' fats. However, when I had used half the bottle, I concluded that the label told me surprisingly little else and I started to wonder: where does canola oil come from?
Olive oil comes from olives, peanut oil from peanuts, sunflower oil from sunflowers; but what is a canola? There was nothing on the label to enlighten me which I thought od...

(17 Nov 2008)
This past weekend mainly sat i was moving stuff to a storage facility and i noticed at idle in park and in gear with the truck warm that the oil pressure was sitting under the big slash mark in between the 60 and all the way down(nothing i guess).
I am not sure what pressure it is cause i didnt think about it that much but it was right over the red but it kind of bothered me. When i was moving down the road it stayed around 60 when accelerating and then dropped to just over that big slash and st...

Thinking About Buying 99 Rx300
(16 Oct 2008)
I'm considering buying a used RX300 and the only really bad things I have heard are:
1. The exhaust manifold cracking - which isn't that bad
2. The transmission failling at around 100k miles
If I get one I will drive it until it dies of old age so I am concerned about the transmission.
There have been some posts saying that these problems may be caused by using the wrong transmission fluid ( not from Lexus/Toyota ).
My concern is that I may get one with the wrong fliud from improper maintenance...
