Going AMD Single Core to Dual Core Question
(11 Nov 2008)
I'm running Windows Xp. Will I have to reinstall windows xp if I go from AMD single core to dual core? I have a Biostar K8M800 Micro AM2 motherboard with an Athlon 64 3800+ and I thinking about switching to a X2 6000+. Are there other things I need to take into consideration-- previous game installations, etc.?

Approaching launch and thinking about installing CB1.2
(05 Sep 2008)
I have Joomla 1.5.6 and phpBB 3.0.2 hooked up with the bridge but am thinking about installing CB1.2 before I go live so I don't have to deal with migration later on. I can live with having different profiles on the Joomla/CB side and the phpBB side. So is the primary issue to redirect registration and pw changes from phpBB back over to Joomla?
I have the DirectPHP extension installed in Joomla but otherwise it is core.. Is there maybe like a top five things to look out for when integrating thes...

Think about video card upgrade I'm thinking about upgrading my video card (nVidia GeForce 6150SE nForce 430). Would upgrading to a nVidia 7600GS be a smart move with this set-up?

Thinking about upgrading my e6600
(26 Oct 2008)
I have had my e6600 since ~may of 2007, and right now I don't think I want to be overclocking anymore, so I am pondering an upgrade to either an e8500 (209cdn), the q9550 (360cdn), or maybe even the q6600 (219cdn). I would like to run @ stock settings, and the q9550 seems awfully expensive considering nehalem's pending release. The q6600 I am not sure will benefit me much right now since it would be running at the same clocks but with double the cores. I probably wont be going the route of nehal...

Any programs optimized for Quad Core?
(04 Nov 2008)
I'm starting to think about putting a new computer together. One things I'm unsure of is dual core vs. quad core.
Would I only get the advantage out of quad core if I was doing a couple of CPU intensive things at once...or are a lot of programs written with lots of different threads that would get split across all the cores?
Unless I'm running a virus scanner or something in the background I just don't find that I'm multitasking all that often.

I'm thinking about voting OBAMA ....
(29 Oct 2008)
I'm not a big fan of either McCain or Obama. I was going to write in Ron Paul on my ballot. Ive been told, that since Ron Paul has not "registered" as a write in candidate in Arizona, my vote will not be counted.
I think it's a choice between more of the same or nothing.
(Family of three. Wife and a son. Registered Republican, that before this year voted STRAIGHT down party lines. I did however skip the last general election out of disgust. I work in the car business and our family makes less th...

Sunbeam CR-CCTF 120mm "Core Contact Freezer"
(19 Oct 2008)
I'm thinking about overclocking a bit, maybe to 3.5Ghz (3.0Ghz is stock) and right now my core stays between 40 and 50C usually with stock AMD cooler... I've read good stuff about the Sunbeam CR-CCTF 120mm "Core Contact Freezer" CPU cooler, wondering what temps I should expect with AS5 thermal...if I can get it stay under 40C even at load, I'd be happy with that...donno if I should expect better then that?
