RRFF Review - something to think about
(10 Oct 2008)
This post is not going to make me the most popular bloke on here, but sharing opinions and providing information is the greater purpose of this website so Ill have a crack.
As an Ausfisher (with a background in science) I was at one of the recent RRFF meetings and was astonished with the way the DPI&F estimates of recreational catch and the varying estimates of the stock assessment (5 estimates ranging from conservative to less conservative) were immediately discounted as fudged figures and ...

Big department with big problems....
(30 Aug 2008)
Hey everyone. First off thanks to everyone who has given me advice in past posts. It's an honor to receive advice and facts from those who have been in the job for many years. I have yet another issue
i am looking at in the next year or so applying to a career department. I am currently serving as a volunteer. The department I was looking at (I'm not going to name any names) is a large department not far from here. They are a pretty busy department. I think one of their stations is one of the bu...

Is The Research Department in a Coma?: The Nitpicking Thread Forums
(11 Oct 2008)
Damm!, I really wanted to start this thread [EDIT: Now you have. ~ Roxy], but got hung up trying to think of an appropriately clever title (the best I could come up with was "Is it an anachronism, a clue, or is the Research Department in a Coma?: The Nitpicking thread", so perhaps it's for the best that I was beat out.)
I'm sure that with a period show like this shot in modern-day NYC we're going to have plenty of classic car nuts, fashion historians and NYC geography experts closely examining t...

Marketing Department--kind of unprofessional?
(06 Oct 2008)
I'm not a marketing major but I have a lot of friends who are. Marami kakatapos lang mag defend last term at kakagraduate lang kahapon. Anyway, I always hear them complain about professors who don't entertain their inquiries or sign the necessary documents for approval unless THEY BRING FOOD TO THE DEPARTMENT.
Actually I've taken basic marketing courses myself (Market 1 and 2) and naririnig ko nga na sa Marketing Department nga raw kailangan may "peace offering" ang students when consulting with...

THE THIRD ALIF THINK ABOUT IT
(14 Sep 2008)
Here are references to think about if you realize that Baha’u’llah was
the first Alif to appear after the Bab’s Mission. There are three
Letters BHA, in the Greatest Name, this Revelation, and two have
appeared, the Bab and Baha’u’llah................
The Bab cited in the book Selections from the Writings of E.G. Browne
refers to Himself as “The (letter) Ba which permeates the water of the
Letters, and the Point which stands at the Gate of the two
Alifs......” p. 215 Selections from the Writin...

Thinking of ditchig my sig.. Opinions?
(30 Oct 2008)
I've always been a Glock owner. I like sigs, they shoot nice and feel solid. When I was applying to police departments, none of the departments cared what kind of gun I had other than 1, which required a sig. As I was reasonably sure that I was going to be hired at this department, I did some legwork, sold my glock, and picked up a sig (only ended up out about $50).
Anyhow, fast forward to now, I decided against that particular department, so owning a sig is no longer a requirement. I'm thinking...
