Project Phoenix; project overview/review
(30 Sep 2008)
"WTF is this!?"
A very good, and relevant question that was likely in your mind when you clicked to view this.
This is where I plan to detail the plans for an experiment related to Electronic Voice Phenomena (or EVP), and see what all kinds of input you have to critique the proposed process, standards, and methods.
EVP:
Electronic Voice Phenomena are sounds, usually percieved to be voices, that are picked up on recording devices, but not audible at the time of the recording. As of yet, the pheno...

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T700 First Thoughts
(12 Nov 2008)
Sony can largely be credited for making touch screen ultracompacts one of the hottest niches of this market segment, and like clockwork, the manufacturer has delivered a premium touch screen camera with every new model cycle. Thus the announcement of the latest flagship Cyber-shot, the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T700, wasn't particularly surprising.
Sony's certainly savvy enough to know a good thing when they see it. Though reviewers have been less than kind about the lackluster images produced by Sony...

Cpu Usage At 100% At Random Times For 10 Minutes
(18 Nov 2008)
Hi there. First timer here. log below Thanks for any advice.
My problem: My Dell Latitude D820 T2600 grinds to a halt about 10 times a day for 5 minutes and then goes back to normal. CPU usage goes to 100% for these 5 minutes. If I have Process Explorer running at the time, I rarely notice that any one process is hogging the CPU. Usually, it will be about 50 processes that each take up about 1-2% of the CPU. Sometimes I catch DPC at 20% or C:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exe at 20%, but usually no...

Games that made you a better gamer.
(17 Sep 2008)
While looking up the review for Fallout Tactics on Metacritic, I saw that one of the review snippets said that playing Fallout Tactics would make you a better gamer. I thought this was an interesting concept, one I hadn't thought about much. As gamers, we learn from experience and carry the skills gained from one game into others. I started thinking about which games I've played have made me a smarter, more competent, more insightful gamer. Here are some, in no particular order:
1. Super Mario B...

Some random Olympic thoughts:from jim Woford
(28 Aug 2008)
This m3 rd attempt to post this; if you are reading ,it, i worked! worked!
Some random Olympic thoughts:
Is it just me, or did you think it was a little harsh to drop 7 year-old Yang Peiyi from the opening ceremonies because she was not "pretty enough?" Maybe as a public gesture Hinrich Romeike can come back over to China and put a free set of braces on her. He's an oral surgeon, seems like the least he can do.
Of course, in a country where the rule is "two X-chromosomes and you're out," she has...

Top 10 figures of each set updated for new sets & new rules
(02 Sep 2008)
Well, I've finally finished it... I've updated my top 10 (pre-Avengers; top 20 post Avengers) figures of each set lists to reflect new sets, changing my mind on some figures, rediscovering some hidden treasures and to reflect the new rules: mainly the nerfing of WC's (which will come up a LOT) and the new -2 SV modifier while carrying.
I have included a brief (sometimes not so brief) writeup for each and every figure on each list. You might think I have too much time on my hands but really I don...
