1. Resizing help for our friend - please!:   (21 Oct 2008)
A dear friend has been sending us pictures from his Olympus digicam for a while now but after his last 20MB set of emails I think it's about time he learnt how to reduce them to a more manageable size. He's on a Mac laptop of some sort, so I can't help him myself, but I thought I'd start by asking here if there's a Mac equivalent of IrfanView or the like which I could recommend to him? Thanks in advance, Peter -- Peter - on the green island of Ischia http://www.pbase.com/isolaverde/recisch

2. Soap - Opinions Please!   (24 Sep 2008)
I made some soaps for my MOPS ladies at my table for their beginning of year gifts. I also made some for some friends. They think I could sell them and really like them. They are Glycerin and have Vitamin E and I just started adding Shea Butter. For scents, I've done Vanilla, Lavendar and one called "Relaxing" that I love. I don't have too many colors yet, but it's easy to play around with the colors I have. What do you guys think? How much would you pay for something like this? I have some othe...

3. Poor Programming when Windows cannot be resized?   (07 Oct 2008)
I am running Vista SP1 and I bought a large LCD display so that I am able to personalize the display to make the text more readable by scale the font to 120dpi from the standard 96 dpi. Everything works great with all my applications until I installed Simply Accounting; this program opens some windows that do not have scroll bars or the gadgets to resize the window. This makes it impossible to view information that you may need to see or select. I called their support and they suggested I scale...

4. Something I Can't Color   (31 Oct 2008)
I don't know how to color this. The original size is 2424x2118. It's really big, and I don't have a lot of experience working with something so big and It's really hard. Plus, there's my indecisiveness on how to color it. It's either cell shading or painting. I'm trying to resist resizing it to a smaller size and resorting to the really bad technique I use on Megatokyo strips. I'm also debating on which side the light source is coming from. I don't want either of their faces with too much shadow...

5. Resizing pictures within Word 2003   (08 Sep 2008)
On Mon, 8 Sep 2008 14:44:08 -0700, Jason <j_inceNOSPAM@hotmail.co.uk Hi, My mother in law does a lot of typing and has to import pictures from folders into word documents quite often, the amount of pictures can vary. If she wants to import say 20 images, she has to resize each one individually by dragging the corner etc once imported. Is there anyway at all, that all these pictures that are imported, can be resized in one go? She is of the opinion she did this once by accident, but d...

6. Should I Be Thinking About Sensor Cleaning?   (04 Nov 2008)
I am getting a few noticeable spots, especially on landscapes (in the sky) so following instructions in another thread I've done a test shot. Manual focus to infinity, f/32, 30mm, ISO 100, 0.5" exposure. 1. Straight From The Camera (resize and sharpen) 2. PS CS3 Auto Levels (plus resize and sharpen)

9. Developing GUI objects in C - advice needed   (30 Oct 2008)
I finished my second attempt at a GUI button yesterday (C and openGL). Not great, but it does resize and I can change the label .... AND! the label stays centred throughout the resize. Thanks to the help I got here yesterday, the code is a little more tidy and organised in one place. However, it still did take a lot of lines of code, started to resemble spaghetti, and started to get pretty complicated. For example it took ages to figure out how the various updating functions affected each other...
